Brooke is doing a fitness competition in 2 weeks, she's been working toward it for almost a year now, that's why she looks so pumped. When I first met her a year ago, she was very long, lean and willowy. I was soooooo excited when she called for a shoot - but was worried that she would look bulky. Though she does look very fit and strong, I don't think she looks bulky or manly at all. I think we did very well pulling off feminine shots considering the amount of excersise she's been doing lately.
By the way - she agreed to do a 2 hour sitting for me - to do some stock photography in exchange for her family portrait sitting fee. I need some ideas....
So far my list is stuff like: woman brushing teeth, woman combing hair, woman putting on makeup, woman trying on shoes, etc....

When I first saw her all I saw was a woman that was very much in great shape! I never saw a manly figure. I use to lift weights so I know how being so muscular can be mistaken for masculine! This woman gives me incentive to go back to lifting again! |

When I first looked at these shots, I too thought of her as unattractive and manly, but now after reading other people's similar views, I've realized how closeminded I was.
While she is not what is typically considered beautiful in our society and even by myself, I respect her for all the work that must have gone into her level of fitness.
Looking at her features and hair, before her weight training, she was probably considered a knock-out gorgeous girl by the mainstream, and I think it takes tremendous amounts of courage to change yourself in such a huge way that may not be accepted by society. She is strong and beautiful - I sincerely hope she feels that way when she sees your gorgeous shots of her. Excellent work Cindi.

Her physique (specifically her upper body, more specifically her shoulders and arms) is a real turnoff however these are my favorites:

Uhhh, maybe I'm the only one to notice, or just the only one to say so, but in the thumbnail version of this one:
That does NOT look like the end of the belt hanging down there! |

Great shots, Cindi!
Brooke reminds me of a much taller version of Sheryl Crow (and younger too) - does she sing, too? |

:D So glad you like that shot, I love it. I have a locking remote release cable for my camera, so I lock the remote while the camera is trying to focus on a spot that has no detail (background)... it confuses the lens and it tries and tries to focus until I pop into the scene (running clumsily), as soon as the camera finds something to see at the focus point I've chose (me), it starts clicking like mad and I try my best to pose. When I think I have it, I dash back to the camera and unlock the remote. The flashes are enough to make ya epileptic! That shot took about 150 exposures before I got one I liked. |
