I recently purchased a Vosonic Xs-Drive VP3320 and I have not been able to format the hdd. Is there any specific way you have to format these types of drives?? Or should it be just like any other hdd?? I am running Windows XP and thought there wouldn't be an issue there... is it something to do with service pack 2??

Thanks, Mick

I also have the VP3320. I didn't format it myself, a friend got it for me from Taiwan, and apparently the guy in the store set it up. You will have to make a partition on a new drive first, before you can format it.

has to be FAT32

i have a Utility to do this, not saying it will work on your device, but it formats drives with FAT32

Thanks. Apparently the drive does not support FAT32, only FAT. Although it only says this in the instruction manual, I havn't tried either. I know about the partitioning, but when I go to partition the drive I can only see my internal hdd and not my vosonic drive.

If you have a memory card inserted in the unit, and the unit plugged in to the USb 2.0 port, can you access the memory card? If so, the device is being recognized. If not, troubleshoot the USB connection.

I have found the problem. Apparently the manufacturer did not fully plug the hdd into the slot. Just a matter of plugging it back in now. Thanks for all your helpfull comments.

Another one for you that I'm a HUGE fan of is Fat32Format.

Google it if you want, it's freeware and it FLIES!

It is capable of formatting a terrabyte in 4 seconds.

I've used it a number of times for my image tank and I love it...

Takes me about 15 seconds to open dos, jump to the right folder for the app, format the drive and pop back to windows explorer to double check it...

ZING!
