Ottawa

There are quite a few of us that list Ottawa as our location.

If I recall correctly there are more than a few Newfs as well.

I am a Canadian. The crazy French-Canadian kind.

I live in northern New Brunswick. I'm originally from Moncton, New Brusnwick. I'll work my way back there.

I'm in Gatineau now... was in Ottawa a few months back but rent is cheaper on the other side of the river. :-P

I'm also, like Jacko, of the French Canadian persuasion. :o)

I'm Canadian as well! Calgary, Alberta here though, I think there is only one other Calgarian on here, not sure about Albertans though!

I visited Vancouver once, was 10 years ago, but I do remember it was one of the most fantastic cities I've ever visited!

Seems like a good place to ask.
I have to visit a US Consulate in Canada, and I can pretty much choose which city I go to. Given the choice, which Canadian city would you visit for a long weekend and why ?

I live in Vancouver, BC and it truly is gorgeous, but if you had just a long weekend I'd say visit Montreal. I LOVE that city. Its got so much life and energy, and its so beautiful.

I'd say come to Calgary, but i'm a bit biased. 45 mins from the rocky mountains - awesome scenery, wildlife, etc...tons o' photo ops. And I'll buy the beer.
Frisca is right about Montreal though - lots of history there, and a shorter flight from TX

I'm Canadian, just displaced.

But I guess that's okay, since the lotto players in Florida state are paying for my education.

Nova Scotia - Cape Breton (Sydney) - seafood and Scottish heritage
Quebec - Quebec City - history - charming in winter, close to Mt. St. Anne for skiing
Ontario - Niagara-on-the-Lake (Toronto is close enough to get to the consulate when necessary) - Shaw Festival
Alberta - Banff - (Calgary is close enough to get to the consulate) - breathtaking scenery
BC - Central Vancouver Island (Qualicum Beach, Comox, Campbell River) - scenery, deep sea fishing (Victoria is close enough to get to the consulate)

Most of my suggestions require that you have a vehicle at your disposal.

Victoria BC here...

As for visiting for a weekend, well depends on what you like. Having lived mostly in Vancouver and Victoria, I'd say you can't go wrong with either. Victoria's smaller and less hectic, easier to get around but doesn't have the variety and verve that Vancouver does. Montreal's great, and though I've never been to Quebec City it's apparently great, very old and full of history. Ottawa's got a lot of museums and the capital, it's great to visit. Probably not as interesting if you're not Canadian, though.

Stay away from anything east of Vancouver after October unless you really like the cold!

If you're interested in specifics, PM me.
