My six months here has really got me through some very tough days. You all mean the world to me, and thank each and everyone of you, who has helped me along the way.
My family is my life, and they have given me the wonderful gift of my camera, and now my macro lens. You have no idea just what that means to me. My daily life is now becoming much harder, and I rely on my husband Peter, so much more these days, just to get from morning to night.
Before my macro lens, I noticed that my site is deterating quite a lot, and find it really hard to see anything through the viewfinder re the images I take. I cannot believe I am getting the results that I have achieved this past 6 months.
My greatest joy is that the macro lens, wont actually take shots unless focused, so this has helped me no end. I love the results that I have achieved re the "Bokeh" challenge.
The point I am making, is that I have to make the most of what I have now, as I don't know what the future holds. My health is deterating rapidly, and not sure if I have 6 months, a year or even more, re taking photos.
Not only my eye site, but it is also physically harder each day to actually get around. I may soon have to go on oxygen regularly, this I am avoiding until absolutely necessary.
I definately do "NOT" want sympathy, but just a little understanding to where I am coming from. I live and breath DPC, as you have no idea how much this has actually helped me.
The friendships mean the world to me.
The threads keep me busy, so as to not live in the constant pain each and every day.
The photos brighten my whole existance, and most of these are images that you have taken.
My family is proud of me, and also very proud of you all, for being their for me.
They also thank you, and I thank you as well..... |

What a sweet sentiment, Sheryl. I'm so glad you feel comfortable here and I think I probably speak for many when I say we really appreciate your participation here as well. I hope your health allows you to keep up your great pace.

Your presence here - in your photos, in your forum posts, and in your comments on our shots - brightens the community for all of us. Thank you for sharing so much of your precious time with us.

Sheryl, you are definitely a ray of sunshine on this site. Your comments are always positive and welcomed. I feel comfortable in saying that we all appreciate your participation on this site and I for one will be sending plenty of prayers your way.

and don't you put off going on oxygen. You might think it will hold you down but you might just find wings. Tanks can be had that can be worn around your waist and are very mobile. Take care of your self, ok :0) |

Sherryl,
You are truly an inspiration. Like Monet, you have made the best of your failing eyesight; and it's quite possible that you're photographic eye is so good because of it.
I love your images and think of you often when I start to feel sorry for myself. We often forget how good we've got it and need someone like yourself to remind us to take advantage of what we've got.
So sad to hear of your failing health. You will be in my thoughts.

After reading all the comments here, I am extreamly moved by your deep gratitude and support, I feel so overwhelmed.
I am very touched, and also thank you for understanding.
My main concern is that I really enjoy what I have been doing at DPC, and only hope I can continue for as long as possible. I do have strong family support, and also have strong beliefs which also helps.
Each and everyone of you, also help to make my days more enjoyable. Thank you all once again.....
Now, lets hope one of these days, I come up with the goods, and hopefully "win" a ribbon, as that is my one ambition I would love to achieve..... Wouldn't we all.

Sherryl - I'm glad you found this site. I don't think there's anyone around this madhouse that doesn't know of your kindness, thoughtfulness and your talent. You seem to have a calming effect on most everyone. I burn less villages when you're online. :)

I hadn't realized until I chanced on this that your eyesight was going; I knew you had health issues, but not sight issues. I have to say my heart goes out to you. You're living my biggest nightmare; I can't hear, so if I lose my sight that's pretty much everything :-(

Yes, The problem has always been there, but now causing a major sight problem, since they took the cataract off my right eye, and put in an artifical lens.
This was supposed to correct my sight, but actually I now have a problem as both eyes don't connect together re perfect vision, as I now see a ghost double figure of everything I look at.
The surface of my eye is not smooth, and has valleys and mountains on the eye surface, so the artifical lens had to be stitched into place.
I really can't see anything through the viewfinder of the camera, so have to look before I shoot, and hope for the best. This is why I have three memory cards, as I proberly take two to three times the number of shots to hopefully get one good one out of maybe twenty or fifty of the same thing.
At birth, I had a stroke, and this caused me to be paralized down the right side of my face. This effected my sight, my hearing and ear problems. As I age, all the normal things happen, but with me they just happen much faster.
