First off-congrats to the winners..beautiful work.
There were a few shots in this challenge that I thought deserved a second look...each left me thinking, and because they are not top 10, probably won't get the recognition they deserve for being outstanding shots.

This shot kills me...the elephant is not in his natural environment but that is only where it begins. He looks lost..stuck..displaced..to the point where he starts to blend in like a fossil. Brilliant work.

The hearse, the rejection of the photographer, the clash of the vitality of youth and modern culture in the graffiti with someone clearly devoted to their religion..it speaks volumes...it is a book cover, and I want to read more...

Death approaches...it is here as we live...a stunning visual metaphor...a visionary piece of work by a true artist..

Like a beautiful independent film..I can almost see the subtitles..it is both quirky and alive...it allows the viewer to ask questions without providing obvious answers..it is rich in colour and detail...I want to talk about it..

Thanks to the above for the beautiful inspirations..
Feel free to post any shots that made you think...

some scored it lower because the subject looks like he's enjoying himself. he is merely a foil to the real subject: the desolate geometry by which he is surrounded.

every detail contributes to the story of desolation.

picture as poem.
