Quick question: I was wondering of someone could tell me how the colorized effect is done when a picture is B&W with only the subject colored? I've done it before, but it was a painstaking cut and paste. I have all kinds of image software and I think I'm missing it somewhere.

two quick ways:

1) desaturate the entire image. Use the history brush and color in what you want colored.

2) created a new layer and desaturate it. use the eraser on what you want colored.

neither way is "dpc legal" but both work. :)

This tutorial mentions how to do it, which is also DPC legal. You didnt specify if you were looking for something like that or not.
