How about KGregory.

Albeit extremely new and portfolioless, there is a link to her website which has nice images.

Her first challenge entry has 16 comments (dunno which challenge, it's not over yet) which says a lot.

From her profile: " yadda yadda yadda love learning about digital photography yadda yadda yadda".

And as an added bonus she's a Michigander which, as we all know, is your favorite state cindi :)

How about Holland (rebs138)

She has a good attitude ... from another thread:

"yadda yadda yadda This is a site where people come to learn yadda yadda yadda come here with an open mind willing to take into consideration the things people are telling yadda yadda yadda ..."

Edit: that's not doodie! Thanks Karen!

How come all my suggestions are girlies, time to find some non-girlies.

Great work, JP! I noticed the girlie thing too and just smiled :P

I'm culling non-members from the forums, then doing a secondary cull by equipment ... if they have a boat load more equipment than me then tough potato no rec from me.

It seems that, for non-members w/o $800k worth of equipment, women seem to dominate the field ... hmmmmm.

All I can say is take your time and study those on your short list. I gave away a gift membership last year and sad to say it appears to have been wasted. Maybe that person has a good reason why they have not made full use of it but I am very dissapointed to see it wasted whilst others on here could have made use of it. I will give another out sometime in the future but I will be very careful who gets it.

Good advice, Mike. I too would be disappointed if the person I gave a membership to up and left after a short time. That's why I decided to be specific in my criteria, I hope it works out successfully.

Well there are definitely SEVERAL worthy non-members on this site. I have seen some amazing photos on DPC, and many of them from non-members. :D But I figure, what the hell - why not nominate myself? ;) I am very eager to continue learning from this awesome site, will likely continue my streak of brokeness (word? :) ) paying off student loans, and most importantly - can't wait to experience the splendor of the almighty Update button... :D But honestly, whomever is chosen will be a great choice. The amount of community participation and active learning I've seen on this site is truly amazing. Long live DPC!

I know someone who does, Chikazawa.

He is new to photography, but lives near me, and he is always bugging me to take pictures with him. He is pretty gung-ho but his parents wont let him spend money on a membership. I think he'd really appreciate it.

I also know that he is in Alabama this weekend, so you won't be able to get in touch with him until late sunday i think.

Yea that would be amazing if you did that. Uh... yea I just recently got my dslr and am ready to start some advanced editing. =)

I know he wanted to be a member, but he can't paypal from where he is in

I live in South Africa too, and I also had problems with Paypal initially. But I'm happy to report that Paypal does now accept SA credit cards, and so I'm even happier to report that I am a paid up member now.

(Just thought I'd mention that in case any other South Africans were having problems joining)

By Golly Dan, I do believe you are correct.

I was going to nominate cutlassdude70 as a token male but I see he's already spoken up.

Crap - I think I'm done being on the lookout, I keep pointing and clicking and the ubervast majority of registered users who post in the forums, have entered challenges, and don't seem to have a zillion dollars, are womenfolk. Not that I mind dem ladies, homie's not sayin that, just that it's starting to look like Dr Yooper is only clicking on curlyheads.

Hi all!
To celebrate my upcoming 100th challenge entry, I have decided to "give back" to the community that has taught me so much. So..... on the night of my 100th challenge ending (which will be July 4th), I will purchase a membership for one of our aspiring funds-challenged non-member photographers.

If you fit this description, or know someone who does... drop a few lines saying why you or they need a paid membership and I will choose from the group suggested in this thread.

Hint: My choice will tend toward the photographer whom I think is most open and willing to learn from the DPC community, this will be key.
