They suck A$$. Over rated if you ask me.

When I was in college, one opened up in that town, and I went to wait for at least an hour in the rain for donuts. I have no regrets at all.

We had that same sort of behavior when Krispy Kreme first came here a few years ago. It dwindled quickly, though. I've only had them once but I think that a doughnut drive-through is an excellent and hilarious idea.

Some of the best doughnuts I've ever had were in a little shop in Estes Park, Co., just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park. Mmm..donuts...

Donuts are always worth the wait. :-)
Always.

Overhyped but still good. It was/is the lack of availability that gives them the mystique.

Before their great expansion of a few years ago I lived outside their region since 1967. But on a Florida vacation in 1999 I saw the sign and screeched to a halt. My family had heard me sing the glories of the Krispy Kreeme Glazed Donut for years. They were as good as I remembered them from 32 years previous.

So you could say I traveled 3000 miles for a Krispy Kreeme!

teh very unhealthy hint about Krispy Kreme stores... if the hot doughnuts sign is on drop in .. you get a free doughnut freshly made

We have Krispy Kreme all over here in LA and they're like edible crack out here. My wife's from back east where there's a Dunkin' Donut on every block, and I'd take one of those over a KK anyday especially with a cup of their hot coffee (regulah).

People are idiots! It's not like there would be limited supply of doughnuts.

Ah but Krispy Kreme doughnuts are like the difference between butter and maragarine. Once you've had one all the others just suck.

Now on the other hand I don't know that I would stand in line overnight for a box (or two) of them, sheesh I didn't even stand in line that long for my Xbox360.

Bring a box of Krispy Kremes to work and you have instant friends.

Well they do a great job on marketing ..BUT they are closing stores all over here in the USA. Opened several in the last copule of years in San Antonio TX and closed one very shortly afterwards, it was on a very busy road in the parking lot of a new Super WalMArt too. The stock (share) prices fell from their top to a more reasonable realistic level for a food manufacturer. A good fresh donut for almost anywhere is just as good and usually a lot cheaper. Heck a donut is not much more than flour, water and lots of sugar. The hype will die down soon. They make most of their money delivering donuts to convience stores and gas station to sell at these locations. The actual retail store line will soon completely go away.

We had one open last year. Had people waiting in lines. I just drove past where their shop was a few days ago. It's not there anymore. Guess we didn't have enough cops in town to support them. There are no other donut places in town either.

They have one here in Panama City...I tried them but I didn't think they were all that great...just ordinary doughnuts. I prefer the little mom and pop shops that make them. Unfortunately there arent a lot of those around anymore :(

Hey Mick....head south and you'll find some good ones! There used to be a good on in Coquille and Bandon...Coosbay has one and there's a dunkin' doughnuts in NorthBend. Tell ya what though....there is nnnnoooo better espressos than the Northwest. There's this awesome bagel/sandwich/espresso place in CoosBay called "Gourmet Coastal Coffees". Everything is homemade and they used 'real' whipped cream not cool whip in a can....I used to get the "mexican mocha" .....MMMmmmmm...sometimes I miss the cool weather... *sigh*

Okay...I got off topic...sorry :)

Hey, thanks Marc! But now my stomach is growling and the nearest In-N-Out is 472 miles away.

Is anyone is Redding California coming up to Portland today?

I wonder if they do mail-order.

Thanks Colette! They opened a Krispy Kreme in Beaverton, just over the hill from our house about 1/2 hour drive away. I've never stopped in myself, but some of my friends and family members do once in a while.

I need to get out of this thread. A while ago I decided I needed to loose some weight so I've been eating less lately. I went from 215 down to 185 pounds over the past few months. I haven't had breakfast yet and this thread is seriously not helping. :P
