HBO2 East ran a documentary today that was truly amazing!
It covered the greatest photos/photographers in sports history.

This one hour show was very moving to say the least. What does it take to be a sports photographer?

See how one youth shot one of the worlds most famous sports photos with 100's of prof. photographers all around, had it developed at 1 Hour Photo drive up, sold it a few days later, became wealthy and quit his job to become a photographer fulltime!

For those who love sports it is a must see. It does not list a schedule for next month (September) but I hope it returns so you can ll see it!

PICTURE PERFECT: THE STORIES BEHIND THE GREATEST PHOTOS IN SPORTS

Rated TVG for

Time:57
Genre:Documentary, Sports

Explore the enduring and remarkable influence of still photos on sports history in this compelling documentary. Focusing on some of the unforgettable images from landmark sports events, the film presents the stories surrounding the photos as well as various interpretations of their significance. Among the classic moments--all culled from a time known as "the Golden Age" of photography--are Babe Ruth's last Yankee Stadium appearance with never-before-seen color shots, Ben Hogan's picture-perfect swing at the 1950 U.S. Open, Cassius Clay standing defiantly over Sonny Liston in 1965 and the great shot of bloodied Giants quarterback Y.A. Tittle. Interviews include Frank Gifford, Bob Beamon, Y.A. Tittle, Chuck Bednarik and Mary Decker; journalists Dan Jenkins, Daniel Okrent, Robert Creamer and Beano Cook; and photographers Walter Ioos, Neil Leifer and Gordon Parks. Narrated by Liev Schreiber.

I video taped it and I hope to transfer it to my computer soon.

Just thought I would let everyone know so they can watch for it, hopefully they will run it again.

Glad to help.

It was sad to see the pain in Babe Ruth's face while standing at the plate on his last day in baseball, To see Fank Gifford laying on the field after his carreer ending blow and to the have the player stand over him clenching his fist! It was very sad and hard to watch.

They stated that we do not see these truly great photos anymore?

It it because:

o Of TV?
o Of the enormous number of cameras on the filed and the photographers not being what they use to be?

What are your thoughts?
