Just wondering what other people's perceptions and experiences are with Photosig? Is anyone here an active member there? My first impression is that there are some pretty amazing submissions there, has it enriched anyone's life here?

I really liked the old version of photosig, lot's of views and lots of comments. Now you will get about the same amount of views as on sites like www.photopoints.com or www.usefilm.com.

It used to be a lot of fun, until they released their new version of the site a while back. Like Damitriel said, you used to get tons of views and reviews, but the new system thwarts people from commenting. And when people do comment, it seems like they're generally snooty, know-it-alls.

Plus, their scoring system now requires a PhD in mathematics to figure out.

In short -- it used to be fun; it's not any more. I still visit occasionally, but not nearly as much as before.

Not having been around for old Sig, I like the site. I get 2-7 comments per picture, which is better than places like photocritique most days.

I definately prefered the old Sig better, but there is still some very good photography going on there from all over the world.

I think I prefer the new Sig - the lower number of comments only reflects the fact that they got rid of all the 'Nice shot' commenters.
The new scoring system also makes it a lot less score-based which is a good thing.

Pass code on its way Bob.

I just deleted all my photos from 'sig, and I am in the process of deciding to cancel the account all together. I liked the old 'sig.

I think the old site was better, as most people have said, but even though you dont get as many critiques it is still helpful, and personally i like it better than most photo sites ive visited.

I like the new sig. People complain about not getting a lot of comments, when actually, even on the old site you might have only gotten 1 or 2 helpful comments anyway.
Actually, the recently upgraded again, to allow for 'Comment' rather than 'critique' so you can type whatever you want. There are just 2 places to put them. I like it a lot. Used to be quite active there, but since starting my job, want to spend my free time here.

Strange thing is most people here prefered the old sig with it's "nice photo" comments.
But when you mention "the old sig" on photosig you will get axed by a rather small group including the moderators. They will tell you most of the old comments(by the thumbs-up club) are useless and the new ones are much better.
In the old days I got just as many serious critiques plus a lot of "nice photo"'s (and I happen to like those 2 words).

I am running my own photo contest site since a few weeks now, and I have learned the most people just like to show their photo's and maybe look at some photo's by others and are much less interested in voting or writing comments. Personally I don't have a problem with that, everybody is welcome at www.myphotocontest.tk.
