I am considering preparing this photo for sale on DPCPrints. Not sure if I want to border it or not! Any input would be appreciated, as well as comments about the raw photo prior to preparing for sale!

Thanks one and all!

Personally, I don't think prints should be bordered, since people can buy mattes if they want one :)

I vote border.

I think you should have a quarter inch black border (at 8x10) because this is the size that normal mattes cover.

I agree,, black or white.. if you have the available prints shot to the edge, the end user will loose part of the image unless it is dry mounted with out a matte.

I almost never end up with a crop which is the exact size of a print. I almost always add a border, filling out the canvas to the next-largest standard print size. I usually add text as well, but try and put it out of the way enough that it can be covered by a mat and they can still use the border if desired.

Mostly I do this to avoid resampling the image, either on my computer or in the printer.

Once someone buys your print, they are free to cover or trim off the border. This way my cropping technique is only limited by the esthetics of the image, not by print ratios.
