I took these shots today, pretty much out of the camera, slight crops on some, curious about your thoughts, it is a series of sorts.

I looked at these with the assumption that the name "thru the trees" was the effect you were looking for. If that's true, then I think the subject is too far away. It makes the trees the subject. Of the pics, I like the first one the best. It uses two of the trees to frame the picture. I also like #5. If the one thick tree trunk wasn't in the middle of the photo, I think that would be an excellent shot.

The trees or the background should not be in focus.
Try to mask the background in Photoshop and blur it and then (in another version) blur the trees to have different visual studies.

I like the idea behind these shots and they are nice. One of my favorite aspects of photography is to shoot through something so it is naturally framed in some way. However, like Mark pointed out, your background subject should be much more prominant. If more of the trees were in shade so that they are darker than that would have helped as well. I think it is a great subject to continue to explore.
