"Personality: Take a picture of a person that tells us something about their personality."

This thought was somewhat inspired by a recent "zero processing" thread I read earlier. I would not suggest zero processing, but it would be nice to see a Basic Editing challenge of images that give us some insights into the person in the picture. They can be staged pictures, or candids, or even paparazzi shots for all I care - I also think the theme is open enough for wide interpretations - but the focus should be on telling us something about the subject's personality through the picture.

Admittedly, I am biased in this area as 1) I like people shots, and 2) I am not a post-processing artist - so I am looking for a challenge that requires less effort in "creating" a work of art through post-processing and more in "capturing" the subject's personality (if that makes sense). [Note: This is NOT intended to be an anti-post-processing thread. This is NOT intended to be a "purist" versus "..whatever we call it now.." thread. I just can't create some of the beautiful post-processing works of art so readily displayed on this site and was wondering if others would be interested in a challenge where the subject/environment tells the story - without the dragonizing, NI, Gaussian blur, desaturation of the image.]

Here are some examples of what I think would make good "Personality" shots:

Comments? Other potential "Personality" images you wish to share? I know many on DPC prefer extensive post-processing, and this may be considered a boring challenge by many (or too closely tied to Candids/Portraits) - but I thought I'd throw the idea out there anyway. Go ahead - let the SLAMMING begin - I can take it. :-)

Didn't we just have the Enviromental Portraits? I know this could be a bit different, but it's close.

while it's a good idea, I wouldnt want to see it actually come up any time in the near future only because we have had several different types of potrait challenges recently. Maybe save this challenge for a couple months from now.

No argument there. Thanks for showing interest in the idea!

Yeah, I could see this running a few months from now and all will be good :-). Just seems we've been bombarded by portraits lately.

The idea, I think is great. I see too much 'goofing around' as opposed to meaningful photography. A picture is a 1000 words, they should not be empty words.
