I am looking for a new site to put clients proofs on.
Right now i am still using pbase.
I am looking for ither a site that just has easy to use galleries or perhaps one that customers can order directly from.
Some sites seem to use software that is only PC user friendly tho... i am a MAC user.

Any suggestions??

and the cheaper the better ;)

Smugmug is a great resource, and they have a photo uploader that is special for Mac users. See my profile/signature to try it free for a week.

You can automatically watermark your uploads for clients, or have private or password protected galleries - however it works for you.

Best of all is their customer service - can't be beat!

photoreflect.com

Clickimage.com

Smugmug.com

I have tried all of those and would recommend each for different reasons - but best overall is Smugmug, imo.

I like smugmug a lot. They say you get "unlimited storage" ... a point I seem to be trying to test (currently at 36Gb of pictures online). They offer an easy way to proof and sell the images.

One point... I use private folders + share groups. With a private folder, you don't see a bunch of empty icons on the screen saying "password protected". Instead, if you don't have access, you'll never see it.

Then... the way I give my customers access is that I create a share group which ties together all of the many folders that belong to them (engagements, bridals, newlyweds, candids, cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc) and I send them the URL for the share group. They can see everything and they DON'T need to know a password. It works quiet well for me.

You can visit my site (sorry, most of the best stuff is still in private folders): www.dterryphotography.com

i will look into smugmug again...i had looked a while ago
i will keep my pbase for my personal images... and use another site for client proofs and then have a 'real' site for my business.

I just need a site that i can upload 500+ proofs fast and easy...can smugmug take zipped files? or do you have to upload one at a time??

I drag and drop entire folders at a time. Two days ago I uploaded 1Gb of photos in one shot. Too bad my connection from home isn't faster though... I can download at the rate of 100Mb in 3 minutes. But to upload, it's only 1/10th as fast. So I only get 100Mb every 30 minutes - or about 5 hours to upload 1Gb.

Thanks for that info Troy. I completely forgot that Smugmug can do custom sites. I use smugmug to order prints from and such and I completely forgot that I could do that with them. I like the layout of your site, very simple and easy to navigate.

Just adding on to what Troy said the custom website if you go for the pro level on smugmug is great. I dont know html, css, javascript at all. And all the guys on Dgrin.com helped me out. If you do go that way and try smugmug check out dgrins forum for any help you need, basically a forum for smugmug. The custom prices on the pro level and customization is great.
