My shot is far from a DNMC but I guess it's also far from a good shot as well. People have found it amusing none the less. My wifes pic on the other hand has been bouncing in and out of 7 since the voting started. Here is hoping that this may be the beginning of a new Kiwiness/Anastasia ribbon winning duo. (Yeah, right - lol.)

Not sure where this one is going. On wednesday it shot all the way up to a 6.62 after 80 votes but with just 3 comments. Today, I've gotten 7 comments. All very positive even indicating this might win and they are scoring it a 10, 8, etc., yet my score has dropped 0.13 today. :(

This is down from 5.6x! What on earth is going on today?? Wondering when this will reach terminal velocity. At least the troll comment is gone. :P

Cool, that's nice score Yanko. I have a feeling that this challenge is not going to be very high scoring. I think you definately have a chance there.

I think I just got attacked by trolls. My score just dropped half a point in about 15 votes. Went from 5.9 to 5.4.

haven't gotten a comment in a while.

Not the best score but I seem to have found a photo thats attracting lots of comments. Only 2.5 days into the challenge and I've already got more comments than any of my other entries. And none of them are DNMC so thats a good thing...

I want more comments or something. Is it that my photo is so mediocre that it isnt worth a comment (or a 7 for that matter;)

I think its quite good; it a photo of a [beeep] with an interesting pattern of [beeep] in the forground arranged as a [beep]. C'mon, that alone is worth more than a 4.5x...

Definite troll activity this afternoon and evening. Maybe they'll all go away and the scores will rise up out of their depths of despair and prevail. (wow, I'm deep)

You guys will have to catch up to manic35 and GIS_boy first. :-)

Seriously, though, think there will be a new high score in the family??

I think there will. The week is young and she is still pretty high with her score. She has seen numbers that I have only dreamed about. I hope that if she tops my high score she at least does it with a 7.0+. Otherwise a little under my high score would be fine with me. A ribbon would rock big time though. Fingers crossed.

You guys will have to make room on the wall for the ribbons... :-) Best of luck!! I'll keep my fingers crossed, too.

someone who has been here a while fill me in on something. I started strong w/ a score around 5.9-6.2 for the first 90 votes or so. Pretty much staying in that range. Now at 130 votes im at 5.39. Im not so concerned w/ my photo dropping, I knew it lacked pop, but I am looking for an explanation of why this happens. Statistically, after 90 votes, I would think that the score is a pretty good representation of what it would end on. ????

that radical a drop has never happened to me, but it's certainly possible.

I think the explanation here lies in that we're talking peple here, not widgets. If I had a good representative 90 (or even 30) widgets here, I'd be confident in predicting my final score. However, due to human nature we see things differently and vote differently.

Also, the voting in this challenge seems to be all over the map, with severe penalties for DNMC. It only takes one low vote to offset a couple of high votes. For example, yesterday I was at 5.3727 with 110 vote. I then received two 7 votes, raising me up 5.4018. Then, a single vote of 2 lowered me back down to 5.3717. Why is this? If you average 7, 7, and 2, it is 5.3333.

If somebody feels a picture deserves one of these low votes, that's fine. I only hope they realize how it effects our overall scores.

i understand the human nature part, and your statistic example. What you didn't consider is the weight of each vote. At 5 votes, a vote of 1 would drop a score dramatically, but with over 125 votes, it takes multiple low votes to dramatically move a score.

I think that there are so many DNMC in this that people are getting a little pissed while voting and being a bit more tough than usual. I know that I am getting frustrated voting. I have been voting on 3 or 4 at a time and making myself stop.

Actually, I did consider the weight of each vote, which is why I included my total.

In your case, you dropped nearly 1/2 point with only an additional 30.8% votes after the first 90. That is indeed a large drop compared to my example, and for that I have no explanation. Hopefully it will come back up. I think mine is down for the count...
