Couldn't resist this one.

I will fire the first shots.

In Oregon you have to bring your own food and a grill to cook it on. In NY, you just step up to the window at Nathans Famous.

The parachute tower at Coney Island is taller than both Haystack rocks.

Our seagulls are tougher.

In Oregon we don't have to eat seagulls

Our haystack rocks are free. Parachutes are for wimps.

And, I've seen who can eat the most Nathan's hotdogs and he's from Japan

In Oregon, tall things are covered with trees, not windows.

In Oregon, our lumberjacks are tougher than dock workers

I would describe a tree but it would just be conceptual to you.

Heh, this is fun. Good idea photodude!

our pidgeons could kick your ass too!

GO NY!

In NY a smog filter is required...

In NY people use 256MB cards because it really sucks when your camera gets stolen with a full 1 GB card...

In Oregon you can get a nice picture of the sun over the water at 8:00 PM, not 5:00 AM...

In Oregon the nicely placed monolith is a seastack of rock...in NY it's a garbage barge looking for a home...

[quote=I Enjoy Ham] our pidgeons could kick your ass too!

Than our pigeons must be tougher than you.

Oh, and in Oregon, our beaches are covered in this stuff called sand. It's one of the things they use to mix cement to make your beaches.

And, our pilings don't have skeletons attached. Tends to scare the fish.

NY's state song is "I Love NY". All of us can sing it, and probably most of you too.

How many of you can sing Oregon's state song "Oregon, My Oregon"?
05/09/2006 07:15:24 PM · #7
Wow, it looks like it was easy to intimidate NYC folks :-)
Had enough? Hmmmmm?

PS- No seriously, about those killer pigeons. Is the reason your pigeons are so good at kicking asses is because they have some of the biggest ones to practice on?

Come on. Wake up NYC!

Heh, fellow Oregonians, did any of you know we had a song?
I'll bet NYC has a dance to go along with theirs. It's song and dance kind of a place isn't it.

Excitement in NYC is a guy in a fishbowl. Why, it's bigger than most NYC apartments.

LOL.

I like this. I'm a Marylander, so I'm just watching, but I gotta say, so far, I think Oregon is laying the smack-down on NYC. Don't get me wrong, I love NYC. My favorite city, but dang, you guys are getting smoked!

A) You CAN'T eat seagulls You're too bust running away from them!
B)The Parachute ride is closed cuz some Oregonian jumped out thinking there was a Haystack under it.
C) You don't even have Hotdogs you have CORNdogs, and you don't have a boardwalk ya have a rockwalk.
D) The guys behind our windows OWN your trees!
E)Our dockworkers don't roll around on logs in the water, they just turn Lumberjacks into splinters.
D) Oregonians often live in trees!
We've seen the beautiful "sight" (singular) in Oregon and seen it and seen it and seen it! Got anything else to look at there?

In Oregon you breath air...not exhaust fumes
In Oregon, you can hear the sound of waves on the beach...not a ghetto blaster
In Oregon, the sun sets...no neon night
Oregon has mountains...that aren't made of trash
And most important of all:
Oregon is NOT next to Long Island...'nough said

All meant in good fun, of course. Even though I hope to never set foot in NYC again in my life. ;-)

I wouldn't feel right bad-mouthing New York. I've never been dumb enough to actually go there. :)

Hey Brent, we are all subsidizing that SUNY school you attend with our hard earned tax money. How about rooting for the home team.

Aye, you have a fair point. So I'd like to make a distinction. I LIKE New York, what the city-folk refer to as "Upstate". (Binghamton is on the PA border, that's upstate? Go figure) I'm just not a fan of NYC itself. But so I don't come across as any more of a hypocrite, I'll adopt a sheepish look and take on a more neutral stance.
;-)

I agree with Brent. Upstate NY is beautiful and NYC is very interesting and exciting. The people, despite their reputation, I found to be quite friendly unless of course you take to long to order at one of your fantastic delis. However, that's not what thread is all about. So, back to the meat of this trash talk.

In Oregon we have a spot in our homes the size of NYC apartments.
We call it the garage.

In Oregon we have Spotted Owls that we protect.
In NYC they put oil slicks around your pigeons' necks.

Possible cultural moire here: Of course they could just be giving the pigeons atta boys and a knuckle rub.

Maybe, but if we did catch one it would taste better because it would be a free-range seagull, not one of those artificial city birds.

Now that one I believe.

Wrong. I am the only person to have ever made the perfect hotdog. I ate it and now it's gone forever. I decided it would be impossible to duplicate the feat so I switched to eating freshly caught Chinook salmon instead. They're free, if you know how to catch them, and much better for your health than some glop scraped off the shoes of a slaughterhouse worker. BTW, a salmon is a fish. That's one of those things that used to swim in NY rivers.

Yeah, and my neighbor Mr. Gates owns the guys behind your windows... and the countries they rode in on.

Originally posted by CeeDeez:

E)Our dockworkers don't roll around on logs in the water...

That's because even NY'ers are smart enough not to get in the water there.

Trees are good for you. They make oxygen to replenish the air for all Oregonians. Who replenishes the air for NY, Exxon?

Lots, but NY’ers wouldn't be interested because it's all natural beauty and doesn’t come pre-packaged.

And speaking of David Blaine in the fish bowl. The most commonly asked question by NYC folks is, "Is that thing rent controlled, and if so, when is he getting out?"

I wouldn't protect a spotted owl....not even close! :)

Guess you've never driven down the Oregon Coast. Every viewpoint is another sight to behold. And that isn't including Crater Lake, the Columbia River Gorge, Silver Falls, the Cascades, Multnomah Falls, Mount Hood, Mt. St. Helens, etc. Not only is New York not that great of a sight, it's a bad smell as well.

I can't believe I'm letting myself get dragged into this... Comparing Gotham with an entire state... ugh... Okay, reporting for duty, sir!

Oregon has rain. We have Rain.

Oregon has Mt. Bachelor. We have eligible bachelors.

Oregon has dwindling red-tail hawk populations. We have the flourishing Pale Male.

We have HIM. What the heck could Oregon have that possibly tops that? Absofrigginlutelynothin!

OdysseyF22, go eat a spiedie and behave or I'm calling Lois... :)

You know Lois TOO??!! Wow, I am impressed! Under a threat like that, I guess I had better behave. :-D

And I wish the SpeediePit was still open at this hour - goodness knows I'm in love with those things!
