I got mine from Kenmore on Friday and it is really stunning! The VR is amazing, the images are crisp, colours are very vivid and the focus is very quick.

Now I need to take some extraordinary pics to convince my wife it was worth the expense!

Indeed it is a sweet piece of glass. I've had mine for about 3 months now. If I had it last year before travelling to the states I would have left the 70-300mm at home (probably the 18-70 too) saving a pile of weight.

Its VR works wonderfully too - and has already saved my bacon a few times. I semi-accidentally took a whole swag of photos at 1/20s and the only blurring was motion blur - the shots were super crisp except for the occaisional moving hand. I KNOW I can't handhold anywhere near 1/20 on my own (especially heading up to 200mm) so without the VR I would have had 50 shots of trash instead of 1 or 2 bad shots.

Now if only they could defy physics and make it a flat F2.8 without increasing it's weight or size. But, for a compact walk-around do-anything lens it's hard to beat the 18-200mm. For your typical D70 type user it's about all you would ever need (especially if you add the tiny 50mm F1.8).

Here is one of the first shots from my 18-200 VR. Very little PP done.

I love it.

I've been trying to get one of these but it seems hard to find. On ebay, the prices are way too high. I mean, the msrp on the nikon site is like 900$ and they sell for something like 1200 on ebay.

Anyone knows a good place to get this lense at a good price?
Preferably in Canada but I'm willing to buy in the states if I can get a better price.

Thanks!

Man, I am so jealous, I ordered mine months ago and still haven't gotten it. Congrats on your new lens. It seems like it is going to be the only lens I'll need to carry with me on my Europe trip this fall. I just need to get my hands on it before Sept.

Have fun with the new glass.
