Shooting mine tonight too, had to get some props and stuff. I'm trying something new in this one, hopefully I can pull it off.

Here's some that my non-photog friends came up with. They are a weird bunch! I'm not using any of them for my entry, though.

The Dante/Pushkin Chronicles
Dance Pants Celebration
Dundee Pressures Crocodile
The Devil's Pressure Cooker
Dionysus Pushes Cocktails

How would you vote a disturbing (but well done in a joey lawrance way) image?

I personally will not vote it down being that I like distubing stuff and will be doing something along the horror lines as well. lets not forget that horror movies do very well. the only thing that will get lower votes from me will be kids and sex together.

Mine is in! I had fun with it - I doubt it will do well, it's just not a completely brilliant photo, but I hope it just makes people giggle, ya know?

For anyone scrambling for a last minute photo: I found this site just now that provides a nice list of D adjectives if you look through it. I wasn't completely happy with the D portion of my title and started web searching adjectives, found a perfect replacement in here:

EDIT: Also found this one, but beware of the popups.

I'm wondering about post editing. Many movie posters have lots of "added" stuff, which is legal under advanced, but I'm afraid the purists will strike it down. I'm going to seriously look at the images as if they were in the lobby or in the window of a theatre.

What is your take on THAT aspect of it?

I'd be surprised if a majority of the voters went so far as to judge these images as posters. with the attendant requirements of negative space where text can be inserted and so forth. I hope they do: I think my shot and its titular film fir perfectly both emotionally and practically, though I have to admit it's more of an "art" film than a hollywood epic :-) I'm not even sure what itis you're asking, actually: are you wondering if an Scalvert-esque in-camera montage of floating elements will do well? Probably, if Shannon shoots it :-)

I wonder whether we're gonna see chick flicks or action flicks ar art flicks or (name your genre) winning? Anyone have any predictions as to the best-represented "genre" of film in the top-20?

R.

I so wanted to be able to use text. Text would have allowed us to complete the movie poster feel. I am hoping that people look at mine from the perspective of a movie poster. I think my voting will lean that way as well. Not that I would give a 2 for a pic that was a great pic but didnt feel like a movie poster, but a shot that has that poster feel I would probably bump up a point. We shall see.

You can use text - just as long as it's part of the original shot and not added in PS or whatever. ;-)

Ok guys, I just redid an image I found that I forgot I had done in the series. Mine could almost be a drama/horror/thriller OR could be a documentary, depending on your knowledge of the subject. Mine has the negative space that could have text, but I think it would add to the photo even if I were just taking it for a different reason.

This has a less processed feel, but certainly conveys my message. It should be fun and a different type of rollover.

Good luck everybody.

Good luck everyone.....happy rollover. Off to work shortly, see y'all later.

God I hope people won't take points away for lack of negative space. The challenge says "shoot the photograph FOR your movie's debut poster" not produce the poster itself. The graphic designer is the one chiefly responsible for creating the negative space when he/she lays out the photo(s) that are included in the poster. All the photographer does is get the necessary headshots, body shots or whatever else is required for the poster.

Well, that was fun - kind of! I must admit that I figured that this had to be a photo which fitted the somewhat cryptic "film title" and not to be a poster per se. On the other hand, thinking through the legality of the post processing was - um - entertaining!

Good luck to one and all.

No, I'm not looking for the negative space. Some posters have the writing on top of the image too. But if it doesn't scream movie to me.....

Documentaries! :)

Oh, by the way, I didn't take my camera with me to the prom last night, so anyone else can use my idea of "Drunken Prom Chicks" if they want. I also couldn't get Peanut to cooperate, so "Dangerous Psycho Chihuahuas" is still available too! :)
