Now I googled negative images, found both black & white and those with color images in tutorials. Guessing I should pull my entry huh, Art?

I think it was a joke

not "black and white" but "white and black"

note the reversing of the words i.e. nagative

So is it a negative like a film negative or is it just an image that has been inverted in an editing program?

These are basically the same thing. Since this is a digital photography-only site, any entry will have to be made by the latter method.

Yeah but an image inverted in an editing program is also the inverted colors so blues, yellows, etc. If it is suppose to be processed to look like a film negative then that would be a black/white.

Only if you're using black and white film. Either look would be "DPC-legal" though ...
