Sounds good Colette. Let us know your itinerary when you're able. Perhaps we can all get together in July too. I could think of worse things to do. :)

Cool! I'm looking forward to meeting you Bill.

Would you like to suggest a location or two?

I might be able to make it depending on dates, things have become fairly busy on the weekends for me.

Keep me in the loop!

I have never been to Silver Falls. Depoe Bay I am sure would be nice.
I most likely will me bringing my wife and my Aussie mixes. Possible but unlikely the RV.

It would be nice to meet all of you. I was unable to attend the last 2 but it looks lke I will have no interference this time.

Hey, it's great that you guys will be able to come!

Be aware though that Silver Falls doesn't allow dogs on most of the trails. Brian McLaughlin (ourwebstop) had to leave early from the last GTG because he brought his dog. If I remember correctly, it's okay to have dogs in the park on a leash, but you can't take them on the waterfall trails.

Anyway, since we had the last GTG at Silver Falls, I think a different place would be better for this one.

Okay, let's try to meet somewhere on Sunday then. I'll send you my cell number and we can work it out on-the-fly. Maybe we could hit Moe's too while we're at it (Mmmmmm, Moe's!). Does that work for you?

Best of luck with the wedding. My son Troy recently got married too, only a few weeks ago on March 25th. He married his long-time girlfriend and high school sweetheart, Kai Lindsey. She's a terrific kid and we all love her to death. They're very happy, and so are we. I'm sure that your son's wedding day will be a great day for you and your family too.

Anything in Oregon works for me. Been a while since I've been anywhere. I'll give you a call and we can discuss possibilities. I'm not particular, anything will be nice.

Anywhere, eh? Hmmmm... I find myself tempted to take you up on that. You know, pick some place that's totally devoid of picturesque scenery just to see if the master could pull a rabbit out thin air. It might be fun to watch. :)

Naw, I'm sure you'd come up with something terrific.

Maybe we could cruise over to Zoomer's house and have him show us how to take ribbon winning shots of Cannon Beach. :)

He can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's in university these days up in Spokane.

Besides, don't you think we can do better than that? LOL!!

Where there's a will there's a way. :)

Besides, Zoomer isn't the only to have won a ribbon with a shot from 'Canon' Beach. LOL!

Hey Mick,

I'm in. My girlfriend's mother (in Klamath Falls) has been seriously ill, and that's put my availability up in the air a little bit. We're talking about Sunday, May 14, right? I'll keep that date clear if possible. I'm game to show up most anywhere -- it'd be nice to be able to bring the dog along.

I haven't been doing DPC much recently -- I've been fooling with capturing some sports shots though - mostly UofO softball games and George Fox University soccer. I need to get inspired for some DPC's again. I think tha hanging out with the group just might do the trick.

Hi Brian!

We haven't decided on a date or a location yet. I thought we might wait and see which weekend gets the most votes from those interested in attending.

If you want, I can put you down as a vote for May 13-14.

Got any location suggestions?

Personally, I think some place on the coast would be nice. There are lots of great places (parks, beaches, bays, etc.) between Newport and Astoria to choose from. But, I'm also open to any suggestions. Maybe there's an event going on somewhere that would make a good photo op for the group.

Suggest away...

A few suggestions I can think of are:

Mt. St. Helens
Mt Hood/Columbia Gorge via the Mt. Hood Scenic Loop
Tillamook
Florence
Joseph/Wallowa Lake S.P.
John Day Fossil Beds N.M./Blue Basin Hike

Some of the places I've been, a couple I have marked as a "want to check out" in my various "Hikes of Oregon" books.

I guess it all depends on how much driving everyone wants to do.

Florence area is nice. Anywhere between Coos Bay and Newport.
Light houses, bridges, and off course the water.

That's a good list. Florence and John Day might be a bit far for some of the people though.

Yes, and how much hiking too. We hiked a few miles up and down the canyon at the last GTG at Silver Falls. Some of the folks that attended couldn't make the hike for one reason or another. Some people had young children, and Brian had his dog. The dog would have loved the hike, but they wouldn't let him on the trail. Plus, some of us (like me) are older than the dirt we're walking on. If I have to walk over too much of it you may have to bury me under it. :)

As I just said to Sia, Florence may be a bit far for some of us. Becky and I drove down to Florence to attend a TRA high-power rocket launch once. We didn't make it back until very late that night. Also, people coming from Washington or the Portland metro area would have to leave very early in order to meet down there in the morning.

But, if Florence is what the majority wants, then Florence is what they shall have. :) It's on the list.

Mick, Florence is probably too far for you. Is there anything closer. I live in Eugene and not sure where everyone else lives.
I just receintly found out that my wife will be gone 12th thru the 14th. That means I will be towing along two aussies that all they want to do is catch frisbys and balls and swim in the ocean or river. No fence where I live means if the dogs stay home I limit the stay to 8 hrs, otherwise they come with me. Any other weekend I will have my wife there to amuse the kids. If it is not too far I may just camp out where ever.

Becky and I live in Deer Island, which is located on highway 30 (Columbia River) between Portland and Astoria. We're about 35 miles from downtown Portland.

I'm not sure where the others are located. I think most of the people that expressed an interest would be coming from either Portland or Eugene, but I'm not sure. I believe Perry (madhatter) lives in Eugene, so that's at least two from that area.

Zoomdak, charliebaker, NovaTiger, and christie3 haven't responded, so I guess they're not going to attend. That's too bad because they could all use the practice, especially that Zoomdak kid. :)

Not yet. The date and location are still open for suggestions.

What's your pleasure?
