I've got a new business card for discussion.
Please post your thoughts, looking for honest feedback.

I think it is a decent design. However, I don't think it screams PHOTOGRAPHY. IMO, a photographers business card should include at least one image that makes the viewer WANT to have their pictures done by them, kwim?
Good luck :)

I don't think it is necessary to have any photos on your buisness card. Imagine how often you have to update your cards if you find a better pic to put on.
As for me a buisness card has to provide only the contact information. Mine works:

go either with a very simple and plain one, like Anastasia had, or go with something that says "photography" at a quick glance.
do not include sample work (its going to look poor on a name card size anyway) and do not make it too cramped. |

Edited the card a little - does this help? Or should I hack it apart and start again?

Uhm.... the orange is very hard to read against the gray background in the bottom half of the card. I had the same problem about a month ago and after receiving advice here, ended up scrapping the entire thing and starting over. I'm pretty much done with the re-work (still settling on colors), but overally I'm much happier.
Moral of the story... Sometimes it is better to go back to the drawing board. :-) |

Good post... I just worked on my business card last night. Anyway regarding the above card, I personally am just not a fan of the orange color.
This is the one I started working on yesterday. Not sure what it is, but something is still not right about it.

JRalston - one is in the logo and two are part of web and email addresses. The fourth I think you mean is photographer - should I have image maker or CEO instead? I'm not sure I can come up with a fix for this one! |

"fine art landscapes and commisioned work" -- take it out -- just write photography...you don't want to limit yourself on a business card for many obvious reasons.

Sorry JRalston. Anastasia I meant. Please don't take offense.
DP, I'm not sure, I'll have a think about it. I don't think I'm prepared to incur Anastasia's wrath and put photography on for a fifth time! :p
JayWalk, I personally think orange is just a taste thing, I think what you'll find is missing on your own card (which is good btw) is orange! |
