We've all seen the threads for cats (I have 2) and dogs (I have 3) but who on DPC has some unique pets? Lizards, snakes, sugar gliders, spiders, etc...?

Here is my crested gecko - Banzai:
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/41794/thumb/305262.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/41794/thumb/305262.jpg', '/') + 1) . ' ' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/41794/thumb/317849.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/41794/thumb/317849.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

And one of my roommates 6 snakes - Chiana (he has 4 cornsnakes and 2 kingsnakes):
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/41794/thumb/317847.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/41794/thumb/317847.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

I know there must be other members with unique pets...lets see them!!

Very unique indeed. Beautiful snake...
Anyone else? I know there has to be someone out here who has some unique pets. I am working on getting shots of the rest of my roomies snakes. I will add them as I get them.

ArpeggioAngel (funny name and funnier pets) LOL. All the girls my age hate snakes and ghekos etc. You seem like an interesting person judging by your pets.
I have 4 cats, 2 dogs, 100's of fish, an African gray parrot, a budgie parrot and my house is full of ghekos (funny considering the 4 cats)

When I was younger I used to have snakes - I went for the poisonous ones though. Had 2 black mambas, a green mamba, 3 or 4 Night Adders and a few others.
Do you know what a Gaboon Adder looks like (Not sure about spelling). Do a search on adders. It is one of the most dangerous adders in nature. Huge fangs that can pump up to half a liter of poison into the unfortunate victim.

ArpeggioAngel - my name - Arpeggio is a music term and this name actually refers to a song my friend's band wrote.

I do have quite the household of pets right now. The three dogs, all female - Zusa (german shepherd), Sierra (wolf mix) and Roxy (Rottweiler).
Two cats (both female), Liebe and Yeska.

My gecko is a crested gecko from New Caledonia - Banzai (not sure of sex yet).

And roomies snakes are Chiana (ghost stripe cornsnake-female), Ssscorn (amelanistic motley cornsnake-male), Rayne (lavender motley cornsnake-male), Scully (anetherystic hurricane motley cornsnake-female), Zipper (abberrant california kingsnake-female), and Ziggy (abberrant ruby-eyed lavender california kingsnake-male). Plus two skinks - a five lined and a broad head.

I am planning on getting my first snake at a show we have coming up the end of this month. Not sure what yet. Couple of options - gray banded kingsnake, green thayeri king snake or an aztec pattern cornsnake.

I do know about adders and mambas. Wildlife is a hobby of mine. Read a lot of articles and watch a lot of nature documentaries. I don't think I would want to own a poisonous snake though!

dude. are you dr. doolittle or something? :P
04/08/2006 12:25:34 AM · #11
LOL!

No...just a fascination with exotics. The wife being a veterinarian certainly doesn't help matters...
04/08/2006 12:51:41 AM · #12
chuck - that's awesome. we have seen a lot of those exotic frogs at some of the area reptile/exotic animal shows. they are becoming quite popular with exotic enthusiasts. i wanted to get a python or boa but don't want a snake that gets that large. i did find some spotted python the other day that i was told only grow to about 4ft.

I also forgot along the way - we also have a red-eared slider (turtle)

Ball Pythons are a great small python (comparatively). They rarely get any longer than 5 feet, are generally very docile, and are very easy to maintain...

Keep us up to date on whatever you end up getting...

The emerald tree boa was taken with my old Sony. Love the closeup modes in point and shoots :)

This is great! I love these posts!
Chuck - I have heard about BP's, but it seems like they are a "designer" pet right now. That is also part of why I am leaning towards a corn or a king - they aren't as common.
