Not to stop everyone from their discussion.... but after all this talk ...all I think people are doing are voting on the "Curve".... using their photo as ground zero... and there is no way to change that thought... the rules are the rules... but it seems people... if aware of their score are only inclined to vote that way.... stopping seeing the score is the only way to honestly...fairly...and secretly... make this a true Challenge.... now any thoughts about that..???.....sheesh....lol

Want a better idea then? Hide your ongoing score while votes are going on. No way to refer to our own score to score others submission.

On the other side, I have noticed that scores are much more equal in the member challenges than in the Open challenges. This makes me feel like not entering anymore the Open challenges.

It seems to me that practically everyone is recieving the same voting treatment which in turn creates a level playing field. That is you are no worse off for recieving a 1 for your photo than the next person who got a 1 off the same person. From what I can see the crap votes probably wont count for much more that 0.1 at the most for any individual (just an estimate).
By changing the ways the votes work are any of you more likly to get a ribbon in the next challenge than the next person....I dont reckon.
Is everyone here to win ribbons or get feedback on their creations and become a better photographer. Im for the latter.

hmmm....was it something I said.

What is irrating to see as far as voting goes, is a bar graph that is rounded in the middle like it should be but then has an unusually large number of very low or very high votes. By "unnually large number of" I mean ones that don't fit the natural curve of the bar chart. I think that those votes that don't fit the standard curve of the majority (a bell curve) should be tossed out automatically based on mathematical formulas that analyze this kind of thing.

It would be so simple to implement and would instantly null out the arrant votes we see. I've suggested it before but nobody seems to support the idea or is interested in it. It would be a very simple fix and would be pretty effective I think.

I second that!
