I didn't see anything in the help area or FAQ (or the error message I received) regarding limitations on simultaneous challenge entries.

I entered footwear and then tried to enter education and was informed that since I already entered footwear I could not enter education.

Is this a limitation for non-paying members only?
What are the rules around this?

thanks

i think you can only apply to one of each at the same time. so one exclusive and one memmber, but not 2 member or 2 exclusive.

You can only enter one basic challenge at a time. They are exclusive in order to cut down on the number of entries in each. As a paying member, you can still only enter one of the basic challenges but you can enter all advanced editing challenges that are available.

Hi all!

I'm new here at DPC and I have a question regarding participation in multiple challenges. I have tried to find the answers at the pages concerning challenge rules but couldn't find it anywhere.

My question(s):

Can I enter more than one challenge at the same time? I tried to enter 'Landscape III' and 'Hair', which are both Expert Editing challenges, but that was not allowed. I am a paying member and I read in this thread that 'As a paying member, you can still only enter one of the basic challenges but you can enter all advanced editing challenges that are available'.

So, is it possible then to enter two challenges if one is Exclusive Open and the other a Member Challenge? Is there a limitation how many challenges you can participate in?

And is it possible to enter another challenge if you participate in a challenge that is in the voting stage?

Thanks for a great site! :-)

The key word here is EXCLUSIVE not basic or advanced or expert or whatever. Up until lately most Exclusive Challenges have been Basic Editing Rules and that is where the confusion may lie. Only ONE (of the usually two) Exclusive Challenges may be entered. You have to choose one exclusively. As a paying member you can enter all other challenges that are still in the submission stage. Often (when extra challenges are chucked in) it is possible to be entered in 5 current challenges. Whether a previous entry is in the voting stage or not is irrelevent.

Last weeks' two Exclusive Challenges (Landscape III and Hair) were both Expert Editing Rules Challenges but you still had to choose one of the two to enter. You could not enter both.

I got caught out with this one a while ago when I went to enter two open challenges at the same time & got told that I couldn't do it so I sent a messge to the site council asking for clarrification. I recieced back an explaination that it can't be done & a link to the thread explaining it.

hopefully this thread will explain it

This rule does appear to be a little obscure in the list of rules. I made the suggestion at the time, so that others wouldn't fall in to the same trap as me, that the exclusive rule about only being able to enter one open challenge at a time be put on to the front page or somewhere where it is obvious. I'll admit that at the time I should have investigated what was meant by Exclusive Open Challenge before trying to enter two at a time as I really didn't understand what it meant.

As time goes on and more and more people register to join dpc, I can see this problem happening again. This rule is over a year old & I still believe it should be worded on each Exclusive Open Challenge as to exactly what exclusive means here so that there is no ambiguity

Ok! Thank you for making everything clear! :-)

Well, I've voted for everything, and have my shot for Rule of Thirds (I think)...

So I guess I have to become a member now, so I'll have something to do. Other than, you know, work. I mean, let's be serious here.

Sure seems like an easy thing to add to the site FAQ:

Which challenges can I enter?
If you're a non-paying registered user, you may enter open challenges. If there are multiple "exclusive open" challenges at the same time, you may enter only one.

If you're a paying member, you may enter one exclusive open challenge at a time and all member-only challenges.

Yoooo hoooo. SC?
