I was bored so I thought I'd start a thread...name a movie in which someone is a photographer, or in which taking pictures is part of the plot.

Mine is Stepmom...Julia Roberts was a photographer

**hope this hasn't been done like a million times already**

"Somebody has to Shoot the Picture"

It's an HBO movie from 1991. Roy Scheider is a photographer assigned to photograph a scheduled execution in Florida. I am the thrid to last person seen in the movie.

There was an episode of this show Early Edition with a photographer in the plot.. he had a license plate that said 'F-Stop', IIRC.

There's at least one previous thread on this topic.

In 'Beetlejuice', the daughter was always taking pictures with her polaroid. Does that count? :-P

What was the name of that film set in the slums of Rio with a young lad who ended up becoming a photojournalist taking photos of the gang wars? Great film, anyway.

City of God

One of the best movies I have seen, about gangs in brasil. The main character becomes a photographer.

Have any one noticed in how many movies Julia Roberts plays a photographer??? "Stepmom", "Closer", another one I donĀ“t remember the name, and, maybe "The pelican brief"??? Is that right? She makes me want to be a photographer myself when she plays those papers... she is magnific!
"Blowup" by Antonioni is certainly a must-see movie for a photographer as someone said up there, I totally agree.

Natalie Portman was a photographer in a chick-flick that my wife keeps watching, "Where the heart is" or something like that.

Proof (not the math movie with Gwenyth Paltrow)

Great movie about a blind photographer. He takes pictures and has complete strangers describe them so he can be sure that what he thinks was there actually was.

Stars an early Hugo Weaving and Russell Crowe (when they were still Australians :) ).

John Malchovich played a photographer character in 'The Killing Fields'. His character is introduced into the film when he opens a door and has a maxi-pad stuck to his forehead, having soaked it in ice water to alleviate a hangover. (based on true events) Also, James Woods in 'Salvador'. (Based loosely on true events) Dustin Hoffman was always snapping images when he played Raymond in 'Rainman', the images are shown during credits. (I doubt they are Mr. Hoffman's, though) The Austin Powers character is kind of a Photographer, when he is depicted as working a day job. Faye Dunaway was a photographer character in a Robert Redford film- maybe 'All the President's Men'? Also, 'The Road to Perdition' had a photographer character. 'The Omen' had a photographer character who takes a photo and sees the light anomaly slash through the Priest; if I'm recalling it correctly. (He, himself, is later decapitated)
