As many of you remember, my wife and I are expecting our first baby. Today, we went in for our first ultrasound images. It was amazing! We saw the heart beat (144 beats per minute!), arms, legs, tons of stuff! Still too early (13 weeks) to tell if it's a boy or girl, yet.

The coolest part - the baby had the hiccups when we were watching. It was like his/her whole body was jumping in the air every 2 seconds with every hiccup! An amazing little miracle.

You could have taken picture of the ultrasound and submit it for the "future" challenge - a glimpse into the future of your child's life.

I think it's a girl too.

Good luck...tell your wife to drink lots of water and get plenty of rest.

Steve, my man. We're expecting too. We went for the second ultra sound Friday ... only 7 more weeks to go.

Isn't it exciting? Check out a scan from the first ultra sound:

Jacques, Is that a Nikon Coolpix in her hands? I know that the image is hard to see, but I am pretty sure that it is NOT a Canon. This may be your first real conflict with her. And usually, Fathers and Daughters get along really well. Too bad. Michael

Steve - I think its a boy. I hope for your sake its a boy (being a guy and all). Have a couple boys, then have a girl so you have someone to protect her. I think boy heartrates are a little slower than girl heartrates. Maybe you should keep the baby's gender concealed so we can have something to guess at :) I know as a father that's a hard thing, to not just go running around screaming because you want the whole world to know. I've been there before too. At any rate, best of luck to you and your wife.

Actually, it looks like a Palm Pilot and she's entering something in her agenda.

Well, you can tell the sex of the unborn child by looking into the mother's eyes. If the colored portion of the eyes are clear of specks she is carrying a girl and if , obviously, there are specks of dark or light bits she is carrying a boy. I have used this method over 35 years and have NEVER been wrong. See for yourself.

Oh, mother should be at least 5 months.

Hey David, What if you look into the father's eyes and see nothing but bloodshot red from too much stress, excessive alcohol, too many hours on the computer viewing DPC, and tons of dust from the local potato farms, just like Jacques.

What does that tell you? Girl? Boy? Perhaps, Twins? Just curious.... Michael

Contrary to popular belief there is a Nikon camera in our family ...

Tells me there is a chance you are not looking at the father.
