I don't know how I'm gonna manage it, but my new objective here is to produce a photo that doesn't get any scores of 1.... :))

I really didn't like that thread at all. That's why I didn't post in it. It really bugs me that some folks don't take into consideration that there are newbie and novice photographers in here. Those shots that they spoke of in that thread are NOT 'cliche' for those folks. Everyone can't have a high end camera and everyone can't make phenomenal photos.

I'll be sure to check all of *their* results when the voting for that challenge is completed and see how they stack up :)

I agree, being a novice myself, some shots that are considered Cliche, i might think are really good...although i try and think of something more unique, it makes things more difficult

I think it's more important for the novice and beginning photographers to make GOOD photos, regardless of the subject... Worry about the esoterics later.....

it's a lens that has such a wide angle that it makes it look like everything is curved around.

no joke: my sig o had an ex who adamantly insisted that a 'macro' lens was actually a 'mackerel' lens. he thought it was so because of the fish eye lenses. lol.

Dont worry about taking a cliche shot, they can still be great photographs. Remie's Impact of a Waterdrop is a prime example, it doesnt get more cliche than that but its a fantastic shot.

I had some original ideas for this ground up but after some test shots they're not as good or provide as much impact as expected. So I may be joining the ranks of cliche shots for my inaugural photo.

I have two ideas for this shot. Though one of them toys with the VBZ (Voter Bafflement Zone). Of couse the twisted part of my mind wants me to submit that one.

This challenge seemed to be much easier than the last two. Had my submission in on Wednesday instead of the usual Sunday Scramble. Anybody else relieved by an easier challenge?

Only just over 50% of submissions are in, based on images in the last challenge - some of us still struggling?

I'm looking for just the right shot and I haven't had a lot of time. It may end up being a cliche shot but I at least want it to be a good one.

I'm taking the 'cliche' route too, I believe. I just hope that the shot gets some amount of individual merit...

I just posted my shot for this week's challenge. I guess you could say it is a "cliche" shot too. I tried many different ideas and none of them came anywhere near close to being "good enough". We'll see what you all think of this one when the voting starts!

not the camera angle.
So the subject is from the ground up.
Is this ok?

I'd have to say probably not. The challenge was "Take your best image from the perspective of the ground up..." The word perspective in there biases me to thinking of shots whose perspective is from the ground up,not whose subject is from the ground up.
04/28/2002 05:48:45 PM · #47
yes but if ur perspective is shooting from the ground coming up I think that is ok
04/28/2002 05:49:44 PM · #48
if that is your perspective of the ground up. It can be taken either way I guess

OK, this one was harder than I expected ... I am not certain I got a great photo, but at least I found something. I had all kinds of ideas, just none of them worked well due to the limitations of my camera. I am way too used to shooting a good SLR with lenses! If anyone wants to donate a D30 or even a D60 to me, I will be more than happy to take it. My pic I posted even seems fake looking to me ... so PLEASE dont comment that it is! It isnt! Anyway, it will be interesting!!

I took a lot of pictures of puddles, thats not even looking up from the ground. but if you put a comma in the challenge from the ground, up it makes since. oh and if there is any of those its not mine. i picked a different one.
