I've had my camera for nearly 20 months now and I just took my 10,000th picture with it the other day.
How many have you taken with yours?

I got my Nikon last October, so in 9 months I have taken 6,354 photos. I had a Kodak digital prior to my Nikon purchase and in 2 years I took around 4,000 pictures with it.

Well I've been doing photography since April 2002 , but only seriously since July 2002 when I bought my G2
I took approx. 9000 with my Powershot G2
and approx 3000 with my 10D (not sure something messed up with the file name system).
That's alot of pictures ... 500 rolls of film ... in one year.

About 7000 shots between my coolpix 2500 and 995.. started about a year ago.

Nearly 4000 since xmas, but I only had a 32mb card up till May, so I take a lot more recently!

Hmm, have to look but the reason I got into photography was on a 10 day vacation took 94 rolls of film so 10 days = 2256 photos. (and that was a point and shoot camera)
I currently use a Canon 10D, with a 1GB Chip, In large jpg format that takes about 360 pictures. (ie 30 rolls at 24 pictures per roll). That is an afternoon or about 3 hours normally. (I take an laptop for downloading if I am going to be shooting for longer then that) I do wild-life shoots and take sequences of pictures trying to anticipate the animals actions. Different angles, different ISO speeds, different bracketting... My husband and I had figured I would pay for the cost of the Canon 10D (plus a few extras) in three years just based on film processing cost alone. But I have found I am taking and trying more things now that I have a digital. |

Neither do I :-) But the numbering has wrapped round and it sure doesn't do it at 1000. |

That's the beauty isn't it? (some would say the curse :-) - you can just keep trying things to see what works. It accelerates the learning curve. Plus you see what you've taken quickly, without the processing lag. |

about 3600 in 3 months with my sony, and about the same with my kodak, from christmas till when i got the sony..

In the four months I've had my 10D I have taken approximately 7000 images.... these are the ones on my hard disk.... I am guessing at the very least I have another 2000 or 3000 stored elsewhere.... so it is highly likely I have taken close to 10,000 in the last 4 months....
Of this nearly 1000 shot in the last five days for an assignment.... it adds up quick! |

I took 5500 in about a year, but I had a broken ankle late last fall and couldn't get out much.

Probably 5,000 with my UMAX and another 8 or 9000 with my Oly. A few here and there. ;)

| I've no idea how many I've taken, but reading this makes me look back with amusement to the camera salesman who told me it there wouldn't be a saving by going digital. His advice made me delay the decision by about a year. |

14,000 / 36 = 389 rolls of film.
3 rolls of film for 10 bucks. 1300 bucks.
developing 389 rolls of film for singles - 1500 bucks.
14,000 digital pictures - $700.
14,000 film pictures - 2800 + camera + storage = $3000.
Savings by going digital: $2300.
Savings even with a 10D: $1.

I bought my first digital last year (16 months) and that was Canon Ixus V. Now I have shoot over 28.000 pictures with that camera.
I bought a Fujifilm Finepix S602 Zoom for 5 month ago and because the reset the number to Zero every time I format then I can't tell you the right number of photos with that camera but it is about 6000 pictures.
Last monday I got a new EOS 10D and now I have shot about 400 pictures today on that camera and I guess I will take a few thosund next weekend.
If I used a film then this would cost me a few Canon EOS 10D :) |

About 7500 "negatives" since December 2002. About 1200 of these I have "printed" at least as a processed file.

I've had my new camera for three months and I just went over 8000 shots during that time! I had Nikon CP5700 before taht and was up to about 7000 shot on it over 6 months. So I guess that's about 15,000 in 9 or 10 months!

I average 100 shots a day x 7 days x 60 weeks (602z only, I'm counting) = 42,000.

UMMM I don't want to nitpick, but 360 pictures is only equivalent to 15 rolls of 24 exp each.
I still agree that the economics of digital favor those who shoot a great number of pictures. I would hate to have paid for all the film and developing for all the digital pictures I have taken.
