That should be, i am sure, the best challenge ever. With the inimaginable number of songs they made, the originality will be the most important point to look. With that kind of challenge, we could see the most imaginative photographers and for the first time, not the most technical photographer.

Go beatles !!!

Very cool! Anyone want to take a crack at the description?

How about the song title must be the title of your entry, or at least be quoted in the title of your entry?

This is a very cool suggestion but, please, let's not have it on the heels of the one at that other site.

Something along the lines of:

Choose one line or title from a Beatles song and make it come to life in a photograph.

or..

What's your favorite title or lyric from a Beatles song? Photograph your vision of that title or line for this challenge.

..?

A little bit of a suggestion anyway. :)

Yeah, I like that the title would need to be the song title.

They just had a challenge like this at another site?

Well then how about just a song in general? Or some random 80s group.. hehe.

Or.. what about "One Hit Wonder" ..? :)

Take a picture which represents your interpretation of a title or lyric phrase from a song recorded by The Beatles (1962-1970).

Note: "Recorded by" means that covers -- songs written by others but recorded by The Beatles -- are allowed.

I would like to see the image speak for itself...where the title or line shouldn't be necessary to identify only the gravy on top. Of course, the title or line must be included.

I haven't figured out how to exactly word it.

Fortunately, we've re-configured the voting page so the "gravy" is at the bottom, and you can try and figure out the title/line before you actually read it.

Here's a better link to all the Beatles' song titles.

I'd really love this challenge, but I strongly feel it has more meaning if the title/lyric is a required part of the submission. I get pretty fustrated voting on various "tribute-type" challenges where the photographer doesn't give me a reference-point. I don't agree that "every imgae should be able to stand on its own"; I love the kind of synchronicity you get from well-expressed title/image combos, and think that this challenge is a natural for them.

Great idea for a challenge! I like the wording for the description as suggested by GeneralE.

Would it be appropriate to add an extra rule for this challenge that states: "The song title or lyric chosen must be used as the photo title." If this was included only as part of the description, not everyone would be obligated to comply. As an extra rule, it would be grounds for DQ if not met.

I agree that sometimes unless a reference point is given, a connection may not be as apparent to the voters as it is to the photographer.

hey GeneralE...check out the challenge database and see if I did a good job wording this challenge suggestion.

"... a Beatles song" will create a debate about "covers" of songs -- otherwise it's OK. And I don't know if people need to use a whole line ...

I second this motion.
