Ok - I've received a disconcerting comment during a challenge and would like to gauge opinions. Its actually a portrait using my sister and it was done by GIS_boy (my photography partner & husband). I am quite concerned about the nature of this comment and would like to know whether I am just being paranoid, whether this sort of conduct is common and what are my options? I will not allude to which comment it is, but I will just post the photo here for people to make up their own minds.

I think you're just being paranoid :) I see which one you're referring to and it's just "expected" I suppose if a nude entry was in the mix. Don't worry about it ;) It's a harmless comment IMHO ;)

That is one stunning image BTW ;)

If you're referring to cushla's comment, what I find even more interesting is that he has only commented on 4 photos (including current challenges -- two are yours, and two are your husband's. That's either one hell of a coincidence, or he knows which entries are yours.

Is this someone you know?

Hey Terry - I was wondering that but I don't think that I know anyone that is aware of this site. But I will most definitely be quizzing Matthew when he gets home from work this afternoon!!!!!! Not anyone I know, anyway....... Still, regardless, I still feel a bit creepy about it. Maybe if it is someone I know, then I won't be finding it too amusing.

if i posted a nude, and i get that sort of comments, i find it more of a compliment than an insult. Maybe its just me.

You guys are missing the point....I cannot agree more in regards to comments about nudes. But I do find this one just going a bit beyond the norm.

Unless that phrase (I believe the one you're talking about is, "Hot body must be a yummy mummy") has some specific colloquial meaning in Australia, I can't see anything at all disturbing about it. It just seems like a slightly odd compliment. Curious why you marked it as helpful if you're disturbed by it.

Actually, I think the most interesting thing about this photo is that your husband took a nude photo of your sister. You are raising the bar for understanding wives everywhere. :-)

Better than driving down the street and asking a random girl standing on the corner. Still better yet than driving to the local high school and doing the same. :)

Ok, ok......so the photo is not my sister, it is in fact, me. Not living in the weird family! So back to the point - have a look at the guy's site, who puts a dog as their profile image. He must be one unattractive individual if a dog is a more appealing profile image.

lets not start insulting people. maybe he was just joking around? I dunno, i find the comment somewhat inappropriate too, but maybe he really meant no harm?

You're right, tw_jimmy. I was trying to find out more about this particular individual and there is a dog there instead of his face.......no offence intended at all. Just an observation :)

EDIT: BTW, I appreciate the support, though, and that you too find this inappropriate. I thought it might have been just me!!!!!!!

I believe you are over reacting and it was probably just ment as a harmless comment. I am at least pretty sure that he didn't put the comment out to insult you and see no reason for you to hint at an insult at him. I don't have a picture of myself in my profile either. Doesn't mean anything about how I look. If you find that comment offensive why dont you just PM the person and confront him with it. I am sure you will get a very reasnable answer to your worries.

i figured, and i really see why it upsets you, cause it is a rather odd comment. didnt mean for that to sound critical either, but i just imagined some guy waking up in the morning, and seeying this post. Then realizing that its about him :P

Unless I'm missing the point here, what bothers Nicole is that this person, unknown, living in the same country as her, is participating on this site solely to the extent of commenting on pictures of her. She's feeling stalked, I think. In that context, the comment is indeed a little creepy IMO.

Hey, I've got a swan with a polar bear's head as my profile image and I'm gorgeous. (and modest)

I had my pug's butt as my pic for awhile - was funny! It's no longer there, but I dont think I am butt ugly.

Thanks, Bear. Appreciate your comments. I wouldn't use the word stalked but until today I had only ever had positive experiences with DP and then for the first time I felt this could be a little bit weird.

Well, I discussed this with my husband and I'm concerned about it. Thought I'd start here, gauge opinion first, see whether I was overreacting and then decide where to go from here.

I guess I'm concerned that PM may encourage further inappropriate (IMO)behaviour.

I just checked in on his profile and it says he has made 3 comments, when I go to look at them there is only two, one to you and one to your hubby. He also only registered that day so maybe it's just a coincidence. Both were made during voting so unless he recognises you from the photo he wouldn't know it was yours/you. I feel for you though, I wouldn't like this at all. It does seem kind of creepy ( or maybe a friends idea of a joke?). Don't be too specific about where you live.

You're definitely not overreacting. I look at the two photos he commented on during the challenges and I can't tell that's you in either of them. I'd definitely see about PM him to just to see what he says.

She has her back facing the camera in one shot and her face is pretty much shaded in the other. I don't see how anybody could recognize her based on those photos unless the person knew about the photos before hand or the setup. Could be a coincedence but it would be a fairly amazing one IMO.

Normally I would frown on discussing comments made by others but in this scenario it's already quite out in the open.

"Hot body must be a yummy mummy."
Hot could be interpreted as sexy or as literal in heat. The image is sexy, and it also looks like heat rising from the body. Mummy could be paternal as in Mom, Mum, Mother - or it could be a mummy as in what is found in pyramids. The outline does look a bit like a Egyptian mummy.

"Nice curves love the Jeans you look comfortable, which suits the challenge."
This comment is quite suitable. Others mentioned the jeans as well. Curves could apply to either the figure of the model, or the wonderful lines of the sofa (which is quite unique).

Now there is also a third comment. Where is that one? I'm fairly confident in thinking that it has been made on some challenge entry currently in voting. Therefore the image for the comment isn't available yet. If the comment is on one of your challenge entries, or that of your husbands, then yes, the coincidence factor starts to look more questionable. If not, I wouldn't sweat it. This person just registered on March 7th. Not alot of time yet for commenting. Most voters only comment on a few images per challenge so it is conceivable that this is not an issue.

Like yanko said the chances of him figuring out it is you from those pics is remarkebly low. I don't mean to sound critical or arrogant, but I really don't see why you are getting so upset (I do, of course respect your right to be upset). I agree that the formulation might be somewhat tasteless but I think one should expect some remarks on a models body in a nude photo.
It is interseting that his only two comments are on you, as Penny Lane mentioned they were both made under voting fo r the latest challenges and he has just joined the site. I would concider this a coincedence unless the trend continues. I still think a simple PM can probably calrify this whole thing rather fast.

Well, that is something I didn't know. You and Gis-boy are partners in photography and here at DPC. I would think that to be very advantages, especially for us that can't even find a model now and then. Must be nice to discuss entries between you and possibly shoot them together. You also mention a Matthew? Is that Gis-Boy or is that yet someone else who is a member here from the same household?

As far as nudes go, you always take risks when entering nudes. I personally am not a fan. I think they can be used for dangerous situations. Far more dangerous then lewd comments, which I would actually expect.

No disrespect mind you. Just my opinion. But I wouldn't get all bent out of shape about it. I am more surprised there was no reaction on this thread to you and your husband being photography partners here. :)
