Just thought I'd announce, with considerable trepidation, that I along with four photographer friends are opening a Gallery, March 3 in San Francisco at 678 Portola Drive. It's a building adjacent to the Ebenezer Lutheran Church, that we have transformed from a Chapel to a Gallery.

We are having a grand opening reception Friday, 5-8; Saturday & Sunday 12-5pm. If anyone in the area would like to come, I'd sure like to see you! And those will be our "business hours" from now on.

The Gallery is called "A Woman's Eye", or AWE Gallery.

I'm planning on coming, Alice - wouldn't miss it for the world. Unless it's raining or something. ;-)

Good luck Alice! Unfortunately I will not be able to make it up to the City this weekend for the big event, but I still have your Grand Opening postcard tacked to my corkboard. :-)

Best of luck! I'll try to stop by some other weekend.

Hmm, it's first thing in the morning (6:15am) here on the West Coast, and ya know what? It's raining.

So, Phillip, I'll have an umbrella waiting for you. And for everyone else, well anyone with influence with the Rain Gods, please tell the raindrops to go away.
;>)

Thanks everyone, for your encouraging words!

Never underestimate the power of DPC.

The rain stopped, the sky is now blue, with pretty, fluffy white clouds.

Thanks guys!

Wishing you the very best of luck Alice!

I don't get to the city very often, but next time I do I'll come check out your gallery!

How exciting for you :)

Wishing you the Best of Luck, Alice!! It all sounds so very exciting! If I was still living on the left coast, I'd be there in a second. ;-)

Happy to hear about the blue skies too.

You don't think a little rain would keep me away, do you? Of course, I did just see that the forecast now calls for hail, and that's a whole different story.

Dry sky dance... dry sky dance...

That's fantastic! Good luck & congratulations!

Oh, Phillip, that's sweet. You know what I think about hail, don't you?

Hail, hail, the gangs all here! Time for a party!

*hugs*

Good Luck Alice! I've been quite busy with work lately and won't be able to make it tonight. Like Mark, I still have your postcard so I know where to go when I'm in the City ;)

Have fun! I heard a few DPCers will be there. Phillip and Floyd come to mind ;)

I saw the gallery tonight and was very impressed! A lot of people were there and all of the work on display was really beautiful -- especially Alice's. :-)

Good luck with the gallery, Alice. I hope it turns out great for you and am looking forward to brining the kids around one weekend soon.

Thanks Philip, Kari, Rikki and all. So far the "Grand Opening" has gone extremely well, with lots of visitors and sales for each of the five photographers in the "A Woman's Eye - AWE Gallery".

While I haven't worked so hard since I retired, this has been a grand trip and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

It was terrific to see PhilipDyer and Floydrowe on Friday night.

If you're in the San Francisco area, drop by and see us tomorrow, March 5, on the last day of our Grand Opening celebration. Or any weekend thereafter on our scheduled hours.

You'll get a hug. And that's a promise.

I'll try to post some Gallery pictures later this evening.

I promised pictures of our new AWE Gallery - and here they are:

Probably should have taken pictures when the crowds came, but I was too busy!

The gallery looks great Alice! I'm glad to hear everything went well and you had a good turnout. I'm looking forward to seeing it sometime.

Where did you get your prints done? Or did you do them yourself? (if so, what kind of printer do you use?)
03/05/2006 08:32:00 PM · #23
Mark! Yes. Everything went well on Friday and Saturday with lots of visitors and interest. Today, it poured (I understand, those rain-away dances last only so long...) so our visitors were few. Nevertheless, a few sales were made.

All in all, it was a successful Opening event and we're all thrilled with the result. Now we must figure out how to "keep 'em coming."

Good question about the printing. This is such an eclectic bunch of photographers. Two have Giclee prints made - and handsome they are.

One, who does stunning polaroid transfers, sends hers out, but I don't know where, or what process is used.

I print mine on the i9900 Canon and another photographer prints hers on a high-end Epson whose number I don't remember (2400??)

What continues to amaze me is that the five of us, with our different personalities and styles, produce such different but complimentary work.

I'm looking forward to the time when our website is up and I can share some of my fellow artists' work with you.

Edited to add this. Here are my fellow photographers adjusting the lights.

whowie! Great to hear from you. And thanks for the good wishes.

Not much contact since that other nice website sadly went belly-up. Hope all is treating you well up in frozen north country.
