first challenge i enter and i didnt know whether to be soul searchingly deep with my image or ... not...

Its a good idea for a challenge i think, and i'm looking forward to the results and ideas that it brings up.

Family Guy quote - Peter: (to the children in Sunday School) If you're good, you'll go to heaven. .....Nah I'm just jackin ya, you just rot in the ground'

well I guess there are few ways to take this

- beliefs/religion aspect

- scientific aspect

- spiritual aspect

anymore?

I’d say don’t take it too literally. I'm a complete atheist but still think this is an interesting challenge. To me this should be about creating an image that shows what the photographer wants to depict an afterlife to be visually. I don’t see that it has to be a reflection of personal beliefs.
I’d say this is about creativity and producing an interesting image, not about religion.
But hey, that’s just my thoughts….

That would be a lot easyer, but the description says:
Photograph your own conceptualization of the afterlife.

Since I'm not one to believe in the "spiritual afterlife", my first thought was also just snapping a black frame. :)

But it sounds like everyone is feeling constrained by the "life" part of afterlife. What about a man celebrating with his buddies, holding a shot of Jager in one hand and his divorce decree the other? hehe

i liked this one ..

one of those immeadeate ideas / dozen out takes
but my image / title is very 'me'

( no water drops, i promise ;)

This should be very interesting. Religious beliefs I'm sure will play a part. But I would think it will be pretty individual.........
The first thing that popped to mind is the move "What Dreams May Come" with Robin William - good movie!

"What Dreams May Come" has a great visualization of the afterlife - that movie had some very creepy scenes, especially the see of heads in hell.

Im my afterlife I imagine what it would look like, as in a misty heavenly glowy feel. Acept its winter here and my afterlife doesnt have winter in it.

That's a good point!
So I guess me being an atheist means I either can't enter or this is easier then, I do not believe in any afterlife as such and so can play around with any afterlife concept I may choose to entertain.

Lol. All of humanity merely imagine they are in a position to either believe or disbelief or to know or not to know. We simply do not know either way and it is this fact that makes the challenge interesting because while it can be religious, it has nothing to do with religion but rather an adventure into a transition that is quite beyond our comprehension. There is enough latitude for a healthy sense of humor because what we present as our concept is merely the photographers individual narrow perception. As of now I have no idea in the works, but I believe it to be a fun challenge.

That was my first thought too but somehow I suspect it would only work well if your aim is to get the most number 1's. Maybe if you said in the title it was a flower in the pitch black it might do better :-)

I would guess there will be a lot of gravestones e.t.c. but hard to think of something out of the ordinary that is fairly obvious.

Wow... cool challenge.

I have a few really good ideas for this one. Just got done shooting one of them which came out pretty good, although I think a few other people may have the same idea. We'll just have to see how the others turn out.

Bring on the orbs!!!!!!

OH YEAH! I just got a fabulous idea for this challenge. I know I can find one prop, but the other may be a bit more difficult since it is out of season. I think this is going to be GREAT after all! At first I was not going to enter either exclusive, but then had this idea and now I am, as usual, going to run with it. Should be VERY interesting trying to shoot this one in basic! LMAO!

So i Was thinking... what about humor in this challenge? would voters go for a pic that was done well but didnt obviously meet the challenge?... it uses an illusion to a childrens story which would show and attribute of the afterlife but... who knows, maybe i will just do it and see.

I'm definitely entering this one, if my idea works out. But the Square Challenge has me in stitches. (Hint: your submission should have equal height and width...) And I was thinking of putting a long square picture in.:)

I still like my cow/steak idea if I could figure out how to do the double exposure for it.

Friends, Fellow DPCers....show me your cemetery pics!
