Love it, I am a great fan of panoramic images. So, you have my vote, for what it is worth. Michael

I'm on board! I've been futzing with PanoTools & Panavue this weekend, working with some images shot earlier in the year. Creating panoramas is qute a bit of fun. Photographing for panoramic stitching is a challenge in itself, and definitely will raise your awareness of issues you would not normally consider, e.g. lens distortion, perspective error (lens tilt), etc.
I think that the 640px limit might be a problem though, if we want to keep any detail. They'll be pretty skinny vertically.

Yeah.. if it weren't for the fact that it would probably need tweaking of the site structure in order to work (640 max side wouldn't work well) it'd be great. However I doubt it's easy enough to make a change like that for just one challenge.

Bump. I think this needs to happen. Fun stuff.

I'm in but it couldn't be my typical panoramic cause they contain 3 or more images put together...guess I'd have to crop down to make pano.

2 of my stitching panoramas demonstrate this problem very well:

Love them too, kind of difficult to display them here.

But coincidentally, someone sent me a link today to a set of VR panoramas from around the world.

Check it out:

I use panorama factory. Not only does it stitch faster and cleaner but you get lots of control throught the whole process. You can choose your camera and focal length so the software knows what needs done. Also you can create full 360 quicktime files which are really cool.

check this one 360 Movie

Panorama Factory does do a very nice job. Last I used it was a couple years ago, it's prolly even better now.
there are some things that it won't do, but for basic single-row stitches, it's one of the best. I moved on to Panotools because:

- I wanted output to layerd PSD format
- I wanted to stitch multi-row panos
- I wanted more control of the seams

PanoTools is not a friendly piece of software, and in fact the gentleman who wrote it is not longer supproting it. Luckily, others have picked up where he left off and have been improving it :-)

edit: did I mention it is free?

i do all my stitching in CS. It can be somewhat of a hassel the first few times. [My first attempt...i shot in auto mode at 28mm...] haha. virtually impossible to make a panorama from that.

if you shoot in Manual mode at 50mm+, it should be fairly easy to stitch them in CS
