OK... I've read the thread about photographing slides. But, has anyone tried photographing negative film, inverting, then color correcting to get rid of the orange cast? I'd be interested if someone has developed a work flow once the photograph is done! I have thousands and thousands of negatives to transfer and don't want to spend the money on a film scanner if I can get comparable results otherwise.

Thanks,
JD Anderson

I tried doing this with a few sets of negatives seems like the older ones are pretty easy to fix the color but the new film kept a very strong cyan cast after inverting.

try it out with the method that was used for slides earlier and load it into photoshop and try it out

you may find that after correcting one type of film you can reproduce the correction with the same settings on all your pictures on that particular film

it would be easiest to use negatives that you have printouts of first to give a reference as how the correction should go.

I use Canon Elan EOS 7 for negative film, then I scan it with Minolta Dimage Scan Elite film scanner. I get a file which equals to ~40mp and ~200mb in size. I correct colors in PS and get great results.
