RUTABAGA pasties? Why am I seeing visions of strippers with root vegetables covering their boobies?

Cheer me up someone! I was supposed to be in a school supplying (substituting) today and woke up, got dressed, felt a bit heady but thought it would be OK - then tried to talk to the dog and a croak came out!

Had to phone in and say no way could I deal with 32 strange (to me) 11 year olds! UGGGH! £140 down the drain and we really need it at the moment!

Oh well perhaps I can think out my duotone pic - I didn't think I would have time for it this week so silver linings and all that!
:( or :) - not sure!

Pauline - sorry to hear your not feeling well. I'm right there with you, but I didnt have the sense to stay home. So here I sit at work, congested, ears hurting, sore throat, headache, and the chills. 3 1/2 more hours to go yet. ugh
Hope you get better soon.

"Morning Linda!
Sorry you're not feeling good! Actually apart from the head, I'm not too bad, just know it would be a disaster trying to substitute today - they would run rings around me!

Lots of orange juice, water and asprin for you . I think!
Where do you work?

I work in the ER at our hospital.....most likely where I picked up this nasty virus.

Yeah! Schools are hot houses for bugs too! The trouble with supply work is you are usually called in when there is a bug going round so you end up with it too! Still I have had four days work this week at four different schools so it's not been too bad financially.

By the way I love your pugs! How many of them have you got? I have trouble with just two dogs!

What time is it with you, Linda? I'm still wiping sleep from my eyes at 9.15 am. Are you working a late shift?
02/17/2006 04:36:06 AM · #91
I work midnights, 11pm-7am EST. Right now it's 4:33 a.m.

I'm glad you enjoy seeing my pugs. I have 5 pugs, and a sheltie/retriever mix. All are well behanved, but not all healthy. One is blind. Another is deaf/arthritic/enlarged heart/cancer. Then yet another has spondylosis, a collapsing trachea, luxating patellas, and Legg-perths disease. All three of those are rescues that we took in duie to their special needs. Then I have Naopleon, my champion show pug, and his daughter Beanie - both being qwell bred are very healthy. They do keep me busy. ;-)

Good job you work in ER with those pups!!!! At least you can spell their illnesses!

Keep awake - only another 2 1/2 hours to go!

I remember Napoleon and Beanie from the challenge pic. Did you offer that to Hallmark? If not, do! It was soooo good!

One of my dogs is a cross retriever but she's crossed with a labrador - steals everything AND drops hair!
The other is a Briard with one brain cell!

Are you busy tonight? The various times I've been in an ER ( called A & E over here) at night, it's been really busy or totally empty - never anything in between! On Boxing Day John had to go to A&E for a check up and was there and back in an hour and a half and it takes 25 mins to drive there! Couldn't believe it!

It has been pretty dead tonight. Had one guy transferred to us from a smaller hospital, and just got in a shoulder pain. About to do the first xray of my entire shift. Been a long boring night. I can't wait to get home to my pillow.

Lol - no, thank goodness it usually doesn't start getting busy until a couple hours after I leave. The drive home will be fun though as it has been snowing all night and the roadds are not very good. My usual 1/2 hour drive home will probably take a bit longer. Then after a couple hours of sleep I need to drive all the way back into town so I can get the camera I just sold shipped out today. Drive back home, and come back at 11 pm to do it all over again....crazy day! I love living in the middle of nowhere except when I have to make trips back and forth a lot.

Back again! Just finished hoovering the main lounge - a nightmare since we have a 12 x 8 chinese rug in it which is lovely except it is in the lounge we use most so the labrador rolls all over the floor. She's yellow and the rug is black!!!!!

I know what you mean about living in the back of beyond. Our last home was a beautiful cottage, and miles away from anything! Running out of milk, bread or the final ingredient you needed for a dinner party when your guests were due in 1/2 hour was a regular occurence! We also used to get snowed in and the electrics or the telephone would be down about weekly!

No snow here yet but it looks bad on your side of the pond! It's coldish up here in the north of England so I 've lit the open fire despite the sunshine outside - perhaps it's just this cold I've got making me feel chilly! Drive home carefully - can't you leave your trip to town until tomorrow or are you working again?
Oh no here comes the labrador making for the rug again! Well at least it looked clean for five minutes!!

I could but I know how excited I get when I'm waiting for a new camera and I dont want to keep my friend waiting. He is so excited about getting a dSLR that I really want to get it on the way to him. I'll get the 2-3 hours of sleep that I've been getting every day now and head back to town with it.

Sleep tight!
