Seriously, thanks goodness the man is okay.

“Fortunately, the vice president has got a lot of medical people around him and so they were right there [...]"

That's comforting... They probably follow him around with a crash cart.. lol

Panning (to keep the photogrpahy) with the shotgun -> Duck... Duck.... Duck.... DUCK! (no really - hit the ground). Your right, you cannot make this stuff up.

It's okay, he just shot a lawyer.

Disclaimer: No lawyers were hurt in the making of this post. <g>

A busload of lawyers drives off a cliff, how do you save them?

Disclaimer: It's a trick question... Ya don't bother. <g>

The funny part is that I just watched "Wedding Crashers" last night and they were out hunting quail and one of them got shot in the butt!

There they go again, another "friendly fire" incident. When will this admistration ever learn? ;)

I'm not sure why some to think this is funny - it could have been very serious indeed if the man's eye had been lost.

It's my understanding that the lawyer failed to follow basic hunting safety procedures - namely, announcing your presence behind the guy with the gun.

While embarrassing to Cheney, IMHO it really wasn't his fault.

It really isn't funny. I don't know all the procedures but I always thought you were suppose to identify the target before firing? It sounds like they were both at fault.

Seems to me the buck stops (ok, pun intended) with the person with the finger on the go button :-/

It happens a lot when going quail hunting on some quail fields. I have been to a few around here when I was younger. Picture a football field, that is what it kind of looks like but much wider and longer and you have hunter on each sideline. As the birds fly down the field everyone begins to shoot. If a hunter shoots a just the right angle the pellets will make it to the other side and possibly hit another hunter.

I have been stung a few times with pellets. It feels like riding a motorcycle in the rain. It hurts! The first time it happened to me I dropped my gun and started singing like a girl, I thought I was shot. Everybody had a big laugh about it, BUT ME!

The farther the distance from the gun to the intended target, the more expanded the birdshot pattern becomes. Sounds to me like the lawyer just got hit by some stray pellets by accident, and performed the first negligent event by not properly announcing his location.

We'll probably never know the full story, and certainly it's possible that if Cheney had been more careful the accident wouldn't have happened. I'm just sad to see the story get twisted around so Cheney shoulders the full brunt of the blame, when (again, IMHO) that doesn't appear to be fitting. I mean, it's not like Cheney mistook a grown man on the ground for a flying bird and aimed right at him.

I just find it precious that Cheney was hunting quail in Texas.

Nothing against hunting quail in Texas, but he just reinforced his stereotype there, which made me laugh.

Oh...then he shot a guy on accident, that's an unfortunate event, thankfully the guy seems like he will be alright. It's also unfortunate (and funny) for Cheney who will be the butt of a whole new batch of late night television jokes for the next few months at least...

He thought quail hunting was going for after those pesky libs. His aim was on Dan Quayle, but he missed and hit a lawyer.

Oh ... I'm not going here. This is just so ripe to end up in the Rant section!

I was on the elliptical trainer at the gym when this flashed accross the screen. I started busting up laughing. That is just too much.

At any rate, it seems to me that this marks an encouraging new trend in the field of blood sports, and deserves a new type of hunting song which I present herewith.

This one sounds pretty innocent, but Bush has to be shaking his head saying "What next??"

I peppered my brother once with shotgun birdshot. The ground was frozen. I shot a rabbit and the pellets bounced off the frozen ground. It happens, luckily not ofter. So, they will all laugh about it after they dig the pellets out. ;;.::...( :)
