I sit in my chair 12 hours a day, minimum (sad, I know).

I need a new one. What do you have, and do you like it? I'm tempted, given that it's my most used piece of office equipment, followed by my computer(s), to go for a good one. Falling for online marketing, I'm tempted to go for the Aeron with Lumbar Support. It cost a whopping $899, and $35 more for the wooden floor casters.

What do you think? What do you use?

If I could I would get the Aeron.

I also sit in my office chair about 12 hours a day and mine is a piece of crap with horrible support and terrible construction which is giving me a constant backache and rounded shoulders. I hate it with a passion and MUST get "new chair" higher on my want list.

I used an Aeron (my last office) for over 4 years and loved it loved it loved it..... maybe it spoiled me.

I have an Aeron. Managed to keep it after the layoff. I can't use anything else - its just so perfect. What ever you get, make sure the arms are adjustable.

My current client has Aeron chairs at the office. It's on my to-buy list. If you sit in a chair that long, definitely try to get an aeron.

They show up on ebay sometimes - just remember Aeron chairs come in small medium & large - be sure to ask if seller doesn't say. A large man in a small chair isn't pretty - same with small man lost in their large chair.

here are some of my chairs, i use during my days ;P

this is my relaxing chair

a health chair or something like that ;P

my most used chair (working at the desk, computer stuff...) it's really good for the back and you can always move alittle bit...try with this one if you don't want to have problems with your back in the future :)

I *had* some junky old chair until about 2 years ago...I got the top of the line one Christmas...and have become even more addicted. I see people on TV all the time at their computer looking uncomfortable...and I just appreciate my setup that much more.

It's hard to see, but it's got the arm rests, reclines and everything...I'm set.

I sit on a bar stool. I hook up to the net via wireless at the local bar while I'm working and find it most comfortable. Usually it takes me a couple of drinks but after that I'm fine until I gotta pee.

Thanks--I guess I'll go for it (Aeron). I fall in the B or C category, so I guess I'll go C and give myself room to grow ;)

One final question: I find I sit lotus-style a lot. Is that possible with this chair?

Oh, and if anyone else is interested, according to HomeOfficeSolutions.com, there's a $50 discount on all chairs till Sunday. There's no listing for them on Resellerratings, but they were listed on the Herman Miller site. So I guess I'll try them, since they are the cheapest so far!

Lotus - ABSOLUTELY - its a requirement! If you go to sit in some, feel under the top edge of the back of the frame - you'll feel one, two or three dots (pips). Three is large, one is small.

okay, not to be crude or anything. but every time I sit in the Aerons at work, the back of my umm.. nether regions get cold. I like to be toasty warm down there.

Of course, I have ultra-low blood pressure, like the kind where the nurse looks at me and says "you sure you're awake?" So I'm cold a lot.

Alternatively, if you find that you're hot in your office often, this may be a good thing.

Yes! I do it all the time. I can lower the chair so my knees still fit under the desk, move the arms in or out, up or down, so they are in or out of the way. That's probably why this chair is so expensive. You can change just about everything...

I have an Aeron at work and it's very nice.

I have my recline tension set very high. It's important, if you're sitting up at the keyboard, to have the chair support your back. I bet a lot of the compainers have it set so that if you breathe on the back of the chair it flops nearly horizontal.

Also set the hight and the arm height correctly, that makes a big difference.

I have a leather studded arm chair at home that looks something like this, but I paid around $300 for it, I think. It's just as comfortable as the Aeron chair I have at work.

I think that with the proper support anything can be comfortable.

Thanks again. I'm going for it!

Oops--now I have to decide whether I want the leather arms. Are there comfort advantages? About $50 more.

I have an Aeron at home and I really like it. It's pretty comfortable, prevents sweaty bum if you're sitting for a long time, and is really nice if you'd had, say, chili for dinner.

Who says you have to SIT? Maybe you need to get an adjustable work station to vary your postion and disperse the stress points. You could sit part of the day and raise the desk to a standing position when you get uncomfortable.

The Aeron chairs (aka Fart Filter chairs) are comfy, but the loose weave nylon wears out your pants really fast.

It must be nice to get to sit 12 hours a day! I never get to sit. I am not sure I could even keep still for one hour.

I have an aeron at work. I'm hoping to convince them to let me keep it when I leave. It's by far a better chair than I could afford. I often sit lotus on it. I've often pulled 12+ hour days in it over the past three years. It's still just as supportive as it was on day 1.

I have a Haworth x99 that I use at home and at work. Aerons are nice but I like the feel and stability of the x99.

Neil, if you are in the market for one, I get a discount with most furniture manufacturers as we specify their products. Let me know.

I have a cheap chair from Office Max, it's about 3 years old and it was like 50 bucks after a rebate. Synthetic leather, has non-padded armrests, it reclines.. bit noisy and if I sit on it for a long time without moving my butt gets numb.. but it works.
