I am curious to know if any of you have photograph collections that are of a theme or similar/same subjects... I'm looking for collections of at least 6-8 photos.

I have been working on several themes and I want to see how others approach themes as well...

Thanks :)

John, my 7 Deadly Sin series. I think you have seen a few of them but figured I would give the link //www.2envision.net/thumbnails.php?album=9

I have 5 of the sins done. 2 left. Not the full 6-8 you are looking for but give me a day or two... lol...

I have not organised my photos as such, but I do have a slew of photos bearing a similar theme, from a few trips out around town here. I went around photographing my area (Footscray) and tended to target alleys, rusty bits, and the industrial scenes which makes up the place. I think it was just my flavor of the week, I didn't necessarily choose to creat a set of similar images.

Wow... I think you are definitely working in a direction that I like here. This is sort of a 'dual' theme series... All glasses and colored liquids and a tie in with each to a 'deadly sin'. I like that a lot! That's the kind of creativity I'm searching for.

Keep me up to date as you progress with this one... I want to follow along with you :)

Great ideas and great work...

**** This set of yours has inspired me already... I have an idea that I will discuss with you next time I catch you in chat... :)

This probably won't help, but: here are some macro shots in and around my garden. The only reason they're all the same theme is because the camera only arrived yesterday and I havn't been able to get out to shoot anything else!

I've attempted 4 themes so far, only 3 of which I have on line, and only one that I'm starting to feel happy about the pictures. The others I want to revisit over time

Lone Star State
The first started as a way of collecting all the Lone Stars I see around and about in Texas - over time I've started to feel that this is far too literal and I need to try and push this a bit further and make the pictures more interesting

Hands
I enjoyed doing these studies and like the textures in the final versions. This is one I'd like to do again now that I have a more capable camera system and a better idea where I want to go with it

Wildflowers
This is the only one I'm actively working on and most of the shots in here I wouldn't consider final versions. In fact, most of them will probably be discarded from the final group. My aim here is to come up with 12 good images representing the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, as the seasons change. So far I've only covered the tail end of spring and the start of summer, so I've got a bit to go!

Gordon, the 'hands' theme is quite interesting. I especially like that one because of my own interest in the themes of 'form and function' and general shape/form studies. Are you gonna do any more in that set?

The only current themes I have are places: Craters of the Moon National Monument and Zion National Park, so I'm not sure that fits what you're approaching.

DS, those are some beautiful places for sure... Maybe i can do some travelling one day and experience them for myself :)

Maybe I should try to clarify the 'theme/series' sets that I'm looking for...

I think what I'm shooting for is a set of photos that are of a common subject or idea that you set out with the intention of creating a set of images to be displayed together. This would be sort of like the 'triptych' theme, but more than three images... where each image is related in some way and meant to be part of a story or thought process.

These park photos that you have certainly could fit this description, but they could also be considered 'documentary' in style as well.

Davenit's earlier post and link seem to best fit what i'm trying to describe. He chose a theme of "The Seven Deadly Sins" and set out on a mission to create 7 photos to describe a deadly sin in some way. Once you see the photos, you also discover that he's using the same subject material in different ways to convey his theme... this sorta creates a double theme in his set...

Am I making any sense here or is it too late for me to try to think? lol... :)

At one point, I was doing a thing with waterfalls in WNC. Of course, so has every other photographer in WNC, but hey, gotta learn somehow

I have two sets of theme photos-- one has tons of photos for a kids book I am working on, (perhaps not a true theme) the other is a set of abstract b&w's, they are much more artsy in nature, simple shapes and forms silhouetted.

Oh it hasn't (or won't). I think I would like to choose 4 or 5 and get seasonal shots of all of them.

My dream is to do a series on "Appalachian Children"
