Im coming to NYC for a few days.
I will be in the financial district.
Any photo ops or places I should try and get shots of?

Grand Central Station is a must!
...then there's the rest of New York...you won't really be at a loss...
St. Patrick's Cathedral on 5th ave--no tripod and no flash--be discrete and don't interfere with the worshippers.
The ice-rink across the street from the Cathedral...
Empire State building--be sure to check out the lobby--but "security" may be watching you...
FAO Schwartz' toy store...
Just a few ideas.

I'm from Spain, but went to NYC for 2004 New Years Day and it's absolutely incredible. I made a lot of pictures and I didn't used to be so mad about photography as now.
Just walk, walk and walk. Everything is wonderful.
One must IMO is Brooklyn Bridge.
Have fun and bring all of your memory cards

PS: By the way, I'm trying to go for the next summer. I hope I can.

In lower Manhattan:

-- Brooklyn Bridge. Photograph from Brooklyn side with Manhattan as backdrop and walk the bridge back to Manhattan (get to Brooklyn side either by walking or taking subway).

-- Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan as seen from the free Staten Island Ferry. Simply take the ferry from lower manhattan to Staten Island (stand on the right side of the boat outside) and then get off and take it back again (standing on the left side), about 45 minutes RT.

-- the rich urban cultural phenomenon that is Chinatown

Beyond Lower Manhattan:

-- Times Square, especially at night

-- View of the city from the top of the Empire State Building, or view of the skyline with the Empire State Building in it from the observation deck at Top of the Rock in Rockefeller Center (if you just want the spire of the ESB, visit the rooftop bar at Hotel Metro on 35th Street).

-- Just wander the neighborhood streets of the Village, the Lower East Side, and SoHo to capture a great mix of urban architecture and culture.

-- The area around the Bow Bridge in Central Park
