So, I've got my father's old MF Nikkor 200mm/f4.0. I think it is NOT the "Micro-Nikkor" I found from the DPC's lens list, since it should be kind of "macro" already, right?

Anyway, this 200mm I've got focuses down to 200cm. That's fairly close already, but the idea of extension rings just hit me. They would let me focus to a lot closer objects, right? And most important, that would be a lot cheaper than buying a real macro.

I do have the BR-2 Macro Adapter Ring that reverses the lens, and it works fine with my 50mm. The problem with BR-2 is that you can't change focus, you have to be really close (about 10cm max) and the DOF is really, really small.

So, would it be possible to turn my 200mm MF Nikkor into a real "macro lens" with extension rings? If so, what kind of extension rings should I get? Are there better (= cheaper) ways to do this?

Thank you already. :o)
