Troy, the user in question already had created a new account. One which he created for the sole purpose of posting his public apology in the other thread. SC picked up on this new account right away, and took care of it.
We really have super powers. We're not just a bunch off goons that sit around all day in our undies and type meaningless crap on the internet...
Well...Ok, maybe a few of us are...but mostly we are 'professionals'.
From the words of the famous philosophers 'the swollen members' "Come stand amongst us, just don't ask us who brung us
Just one of them amongst us, come on, you can TRUST US."

HBunch, thanks, i was just wondering, i was unaware of his other post, but i feel that its great,
makes me feel secure, the SC's findings is as big as a 2400 foot tunnel from tiujana to Californi, finding 2 tons of marjuana, except you all found a cheater.
GREAT JOB<

I also thought it might be appropriate to post his public apology here since he can't for obvious reasons post it for himself (taken from the landscape 2 results recalculated thread)...

"Hi there,

I'm the criminal. I'm very ashamed of what I've did and I still cannot find a good reason for that. I'm not looking for excuses or trying to explain my actions, I just want to appologize for taking the chanches of other photos to win :(

I promise I'll never do anything like that again and I also promise I'll never participate in a challenge here on DPC with any other identity. Its not a promise to you only, its also a promise to myself ...

I have dissapointed many of you (who knows me here on dpc) and all of romanians that participate in DPC ...

Sorry."

He's in Romania now, ever been to Romania? Deportation would be likely to be a step up. Lovely landscape, fine people, but talk about your broken contries. Leave him there, it's punishment enough

A sincere apology, which I as an individual do accept.

Me too, if someone is big enough to post an apology, I for one won't throw it back in his face.

I don´t like this comment at all! It´s uncalled for in these circumstances and has nothing to with the announcements in this thread!

The apology of the photographer in question was genuine although it didn´t justify his cheating, it won´t be forgotten. I doubt he will ever try to participate in this community again, his photos were extraordinary beautiful, easily recognizable and post process effectively done, such a pity he felt he had to cheat.

Don´t know why people feel the need to drag his country into this!

It gives me a lot of confidence to know that the site council does such a great job. This site is a pleasure to belong to. It took some guts for the guy to apologise, but it took a lot of nerve to cheat. How do people like that sleep at night?

Your sins always have a way of finding you out!

Thanks again. I love dpc!

I propose a one week amnesty for all the other EXIF tamperers on DPC.... ;-)

2 words: SC is doing a great job, and no apologies can return time and effort of others

what were "they" thinking ?
01/28/2006 08:05:36 AM · #37
i knew it was "possible", though i didn't think any one would do it

wow .. it's a strange world ..

Have you ever been to Romania? What makes you think or say such things about my county?

I'll add my thanks to those of the others who have posted.

The thing that attracted me to this site in the first place was the clean, honest, and attractive community and how it was administered. You've done nothing to change my mind in all this time.

So, thanks for being the grand site you are. One I frequent far more often than is good for me.

I do not know much about Romania, but I guess my mental image is of a poor country where most cannot afford much beyond the basics. This could be 100% incorrect. I love learning about other cultures--would you be interested in putting together a photo essay on what life is like in your area (the good and the bad)? If this causes much discussion it could be moved to a new thread.

I would love to. I have been to Canada and Mexico, and much of the US, but never outside of North America. Maybe when my kids are grown I will have the time and money to travel more.

I've had this site bookmarked for a while, looks like a beautiful and interesting country.

To the S/C: My warm congratualtions on the diligence you display in keeping the game fair. Very good work!

It is nothing short of amazing how some people spend valuable time seeking short cuts to short circuit upright activity. Imagine if this time were spent in expanding their creative realm.

Also is the stigma that falls to humiliate and crush the soul, lest they have no shame.

Again, good detective work from the S/C.
