Hey, I think this was discussed before but couldn't find the thread. Is it reasonable to show my failed attempts/ entries for the transitions challenge, as long as I waited until after the submission deadline ?

I.e., during the voting is it okay to put links up to things you thought about entering but didn't ? Fair enough it would be poor form during the submission period, but afterwards ?

Comments ?

I think the most fair thing is once voting ends and results are posted, it's ok to then show failed attempts for the challenge who's results are currently being posted.

That way we don't bias the anonymity of the challenge being voted upon.

Now if you could come up with a way to show failed attempts of challenges that haven't yet been announced, you get 3 extra points, plus a cookie!

I was actually meaning a picture that was another idea I had for the challenge, ie. nothing at all like my current entry. It's up on pbase, I was just wondering if posting a link after the submission date had passed would be okay. It certainly doesn't give away what my actual submission is. Although my actual submission really gives it away, as you'll see on Monday!

No cookies for me, I'm trying to lose weight...

i still stand by my previous post. let's do everything we can to not shave into the gray areas of anonymity surrounding the challenge currently being voted on. that way we never slide down any slippery slopes of how different is different enough.

just my opinion, your mileage with others may vary.

I agree.

Anything that has any indication of affecting the anonymous nature of the entries should be avoided.

It really is exciting to choose photos without knowing if it's a favorite artist or perhaps a new one breaking through.

I'm not sure about this desire for complete anonymity, it seems at odds with using this site as a forum for learning. What's more important, accurate, 'unbiased' scores or everyone becoming a better photographer? I know I've given the person I actually go out and shoot photos with (buddy system!) a really crappy score when he deserves it, and I was there when he shot the thing. Am I expecting too much fairness from other voters, maybe?
