Ok now that the signs challenge is over I get to vent at my own stupidity! Last Tuesday I finally got out to take pictures for the Road and Signs challenges, I took some pictures that I liked and went home to see what I could do with them. While editing the one I liked the most I ... saved over my original file with my edit. Thus making it impossible to enter, knowing my luck it would have been a hit, or someone might have doubts as to the editing, and I would have had to provide my original and since my original is now my edit I sadly had to pick another picture.
So the question before you today boys and girls is which one would have done better? I am completely happy with my entry’s finish but that little voice in my head wont quit asking the question.
Here is the one I wanted
And my entry
Please help put my mind at rest :) at least let it move on to something else....

I hate to tell you this, but the outtake is definately more dramatic than the one you submitted.

don't worry too much - in your outtake, the sign itself is way better, but the landscape isn't as good, so my guess is that they would have scored roughly the same. |

I like the first one, pretty country side you live in. :) |

The first one is so much more unique. Not to make you more upset with yourself, but the first one stands out much more. |

Well thanks for the imput, I really liked the clouds and the hazy mountains in the back of the one I wanted to enter and I thought the sign was much more interesting. All the other pictures I took of the cattle sign the mountains were obscuring the Enjoy Beef part after editing so I flipped a coin and went with the Spring Creek sign which had a its good points too so your probably right Beetle they might score about the same.
edit:spelling...mind moves faster than the fingers...

anyone else have an opinion to voice?
So far it seems that the un-entered one might have done better. |

I like the leading lines of your entry. Much more pleasing to the eye, for me anyway. I also like the lighter toned grass (tan). One last observation is the one not entered is near centered with the horizon - not as much impact/interest.

The picture you wanted to submit has a more unique sign but the one you submitted has far superior exposure and composition and is the better of the two images. It has more lasting quality.
The meet-the-challenge crowd may have voted the first one higher in this particular challenge. Those who favor higher quality in their images would have voted your submission higher.
