Okay, the subject is horrible, but I'll try to explain.

I'm planning to make a business calendar for my best friend. It's a bit like a diary, and the decided style was of the "National Geographic Landscapes 2006 Business Calendar". It's lovely. So since I'll be making one for her, there will be pictures in it. I'm not a great photographer/editor and I haven't been at the right place at the right time very often.

So DPChallenge, has loads of great pictures. Is it possible to get the large editted ones from the photographer if I emailed them? There is no profit at all (I'll have to use my own money to pay for the printing charges), so basically, there will only be one (okay two if I want one for myself) print of it. Would I still have to pay money for those awesome photos?

I'll come back later in the week to PM the photographers for the photos, asking for permission and all though.
Okay, I think I lost my point. I hope it makes sense.

It all depends on the photographer, wether they'll grant rights for use and what they'd want in exchange. I expect many would at least want you to sign something saying you wont use the image for commercial purposes or reproduce it outside your calendar project.

That's what I would agree to, although nobody has ever asked for any of my images to be made into a print (as available through DPCPrints) and only one image has been listed as a favorite...

So, I don't know...

I imagine it would be pretty individual....

There are some photogs here who do this for a living and may or may not want to "donate" a print usage. Others are hobbyists and would be thrilled...a bunch probably fall in the middle.

Hopefully they will chime in here and let you know :-) Otherwise PMs would be the way to go, most likely!
