What's the oddest mis-explanation of what a photo you've entered in a challenge is has gotten? Man, that's a complex sentence, and rewriting it three times didn't help any! Here, an example.

When I entered Holes in Reality for the Matrix challenge, I really didn't think many people would have a hard time figuring out 'how I did it,' as it were, and yet I got the comment, "I really dont get what this is. It almost looks like the photo was taken from under glass on which there is a pool of water, even though the right edge gives it away that its a mirror. But what is actually reflected in the mirror?" For the record, it's a building reflected in a big wide puddle in the gutter of a downtown street (and then the photo flipped over to make it look like you're looking into the puddle, not down at it; the thing on the right is the edge of the sidewalk).

This isn't, I should specify, any attempt to ridicule the giver of the comment! Instead, I'm curious as to whether any of the rest of you have taken unintentionally misleading photos. My 'Round' entry is already being pegged as something completely different and bizarre from the subject I *thought* was clearly what I was shooting. :-> Clearly, something in Holes, and something in my 'Round' entry, is giving a strong signal of 'This Is What I Am!' that I completely failed to see.

I showed you mine. Show me yours? A benign, kind of cool example would be the winner for Unanswered Questions (inverted so the air bubbles look like liquid spilling), but I'm fairly sure kiwiness meant that one on purpose. :->

This is probably my only entry where I created an intentionally misleading image.

From my scores lately all of mine are misleading, and I took 'em on purpose. Does that count?

The picture I confused the most voters with was:

But I don't think they didn't know what it was, just how I did it.

Um... well it was camera trickery... pay attention to the DOF on each row of gum drops. Not easy to do on most cameras.

I think it was lisae's Kermit doll, so completely dilapidated that most folks thought it was a photo of a dead or kidnapped person wrapped in a burlap sack (and that THAT was in bad taste).

Actually not Lisae's.. it was Froober's stuffed animal that was all worn out from being loved from when she was a child... but, right.. a lot of us thought "what the ... is it?", or "who was kidnapped?" LOL

I've grown somewhat fond of the kerminator over the last year or so. He made a great mascot.
