Can one effectively do batch processing with either of these to programs? And if so, is one more intuitive or automatic?

If you buy one of the higher priced versions of NeatImage you can do batch processing. As I recall (from dim memory, so check their website to be sure) the free one does no batch, a slightly more $$ one will batch process at most 3 images, a sligthly higher $$ one will batch up to 50 images, and even more $$ gets you unlimited batching.

But that's from dim memory over time, as I slowly worked up the "tree" because I in fact needed to batch more and more images over time. :-)

Oh, and I find it fairly easy/intuitive to set up a batch run. But maybe that's just me.

Seeing the Neat Image is a photoshop plug-in...

It would be quite easy to make it do batch. All you would have to do is record an action to run the neat image plugin.

Then run Photoshop's batch ... using the Neat Image action you recorded.

Of course, it almost goes without saying that in order to be able to use Neat Image as a plugin, you have to purchase the version that does allow you to batch process upwards of 3 images at a time...

Yeah, I was just noticing that. Ooops! I wonder if a DOS based batch (.bat) file could force the cheap version to batch process.

I don't think so.

I have the Free version on my laptop and the paid for version on my main system. I will have to check the laptop later today, but from what I recall, the "Stand Alone" Neat Image Free version is VERY manual.
