Speaking of driveway, in Ottawa (maybe all of Ontario), they refer to it as a laneway. |

If I may respectfully point out - not only is it pronounced "boy" it is spelled BUOY!!!!
P S Please remember "it's" with an apostrophe means "it is" and its without an apostrophe means possessive ie" The dog ate its bone."

I remember feeling like a real ass when I realized that "Dubbya" was incorrect. The correct insulting reference to the American president's name is, in fact, "Dubya". Oops.

The ones that bug me to no end are mischievous (it's pronounced MIS chi vus) and athlete (ATH leet). I'm from Texas and even I don't add in syllables that don't exist. When I hear people say 'mis CHEE vee us' and 'A thu leet' I nearly cringe. |

No. Any word that ends in a consonant is pluralized by adding es. |

It's English. There's always an exception or two or a hundred. |

I read last night that the word lens is derived from the word "lentil", as 14th-15th C reading glasses were formed from pebbles of glass that resembled lentils in shape.
Oh - and an ellipsis has three dots, not two...

Well that explains alot. I typically use as many as I feel like.....and this probably explains why I spell lense with an "e". Sheesh, some English Majors (me) should really know better.
