Anyone have one?

I just received a 28 x 28 x 28 lithg tent. The thing comes in a small round bag. When I opened it it flew out of the bag and popped open. There are no instructions. I tried to fold it back to get into the bag and it does nto fold up. I called the mfg. and he basically said I was a moron or I had a defective tent. I am not a moron. But it will not fold flat let alone back into the bag.

Anyone have a clue?

Kinda sounds like one of those Fake can of beans and the spring pops out.....

If it's like the playhut tents or a lightdisc, you push one corner in toward the opposite corner and fold it in half, and then grab it on opposite sides, and twist your hands in opposite directions until is begins to wrap in on itself, much as a rope might on a swing if one were to spin around too much.

that is what the mfg. tried to tell me. It doesn't work. I have determined that the spring steel in at least one side has sprung. It just will not lay flat at all and hence I can never get it to twist back to the circle.

Ok...3 hours is enough. This just does not fold up and there is no way I can make it fit in the carry bag. It is goi g back...think I will stick to my homemade stuff.

Ok...so I didn't give up quite yet. Spent another hour or so last night and another hour this morning with this thing. I really need it but the damn thing just will not fold up. No one here has ever had this problem?

I really must be an uncoordinated bafoon.

I don't know if this will help at all, but...

From memory, with my light tent, I first of all fold the sides in, so that the whole thing is flat. You have to keep a good hold of it at this point. Then grab two opposite corners and twist them in opposite directions. When you have twisted it far enough (can't say how far that would be, as I'm at work at the moment), you then fold these two corners into the middle. If you are very lucky, you will have folded it up.

It took me an awful lot of trial, error, swearing and vodka to get it done the first time. Good luck.

Thanks for the link. It looks exactly like mine, even size. I wish mine would fold like that. The very first step...where you fold it flat? Mine will not do that.

After careful inspection of all wire inserts by touch, found that one side had what felt like a kink or a part that had sprung. So now, with very sore fingertips, a lot of very frustrating twisting and clamping and twisting, I finally got it unsprung and it folds up in like two seconds. Even twists into the bag size circle very easily.

Google search is DPC's friend -- see all the new attention it brings us?
Considering this thread began in 2006, I wonder if Smith Victor ever got around to enclosing instructions?
