Hello,
Could someone share their expertise on how (s)he properly setup a Canon EOS 20D shutterspeed? For example, if I want f2.8, how may I achieve this (and know that I have exactly f2.8)?
In addition, could anyone share settings that have produced great photos in gymnasium lighting?
Thanks for your time,

Do what???? I'm not at all meaning to sound rude, but it's very unclear what you are meaning here.
If you set the camera on Av and select f2.8, you WILL have f2.8. There's no question there unless there's something malfunctioning. This, however, is a factor of the lens you are using. If your lens is a slower lens, f4 or f5.6 may be the largest aperture available, and you will NOT be able to select f2.8.
Gymansiums are terrible. White balance is usually a problem, it's usually dim, and the action is fast. Get a FAST lens with at least 300mm of zoom. Flashes are usually discouraged if you are going to be close to the players; they can be very distracting and even dangerous. |

What ISO are you using? If you haven't already, try using 800-1600 to give you a little faster shutter speed. The 20D is great at ISO/noise ratios. You could go up to 3200 if you really wanted. Also, shoot in RAW so you can customize the white balance afterwards and bump up the exposure a bit more if need be. |
