Hello DPCers: I have a problem with my "burst of colors" submission. I have the photo edited in PS at 640 and when I try to convert it to jpg as I usually do (i.e. File => Save as) in Image options => Quality, I can't choose nothing better than 2 or 3 (when I usually can choose 8 or 9), so my image loses all the details.
I throught this one would achieve a good result, but with the quality of the jpg it will fail.
Please help me, you wise people of DPC.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried flattening the image then saving as a JPG?

Sorry, I don't know what you mean by flattening. Can you explain me, please?

You should save the photo by going to file then "save for web" You can then choose actual size of the picture at the bottom right section, then top right you can choose the quality. You can slide that bar along and choose the size in kb's and as you slide that bar you will see the kb size at the bottom left of the photo. Then save from there when you are happy

Good luck

Sorry,....go to Layers/Flatten Image which makes it into one layer and then go to either Save As or Save for Web as Poineer explained.

Don't resize it in the main PS area, do it in save for web, leave original size until you adjust it there

Thanks Judi and Pioneer, I've achieved a little more quality with your advices.
If my image wins a ribbon, a part of it will be to you (in a virtual meaning, you know...LOL)

Thanks.

Can anyone confirm if the above is the correct way to resize?

I normally finish editing then resize, apply USM and then "save for the web". I always thought you should apply sharpening as the last step after resizing.
